Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop the educational game media product called Happy Math War is valid, practical, and effective to improve students' mathematical connection abilities. The reason for this research is that there is no 21st-century digital learning media to help with learning circle material which is classified as difficult and learning only uses textbooks. This research method involves development using the Borg and Gall model, which includes potential and problem analysis, data collection, product development, design validation, design revision, preliminary testing, revision, large-scale implementation testing, and final revision. The research subjects are junior high school ‘5 students in the city of Serang. Data collection instruments consist of questionnaires and tests, and the data will be analyzed using both quantitative and qualitative descriptive. The learning media developed consists of the Happy Math War application and manuals. The main software for making applications is Construct 2 and Canva software for making images. The research results obtained evidence that the educational game media called Happy Math War is valid, practical, and effective. Learning media is highly valid with a percentage of media experts 90%, highly good in terms of material with a percentage of 88%, practical in terms of teacher response with a percentage of 80%, and highly practical in terms of student responses with a percentage of 91%. The effectiveness of the media from the paired sample t-test was significant and there was an average difference with Asymp Sig 2-tailed 0.000 <0.05. Thus the media is valid, practical, and effective in learning mathematics.

Additional Information: Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran game edukasi berbasis android bernama Happy Math War yang valid, praktis, dan efektif digunakan dalam pembelajaran matematika serta meningkatkan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa. Alasan penelitian dilakukan karena belum adanya media pembelajaran digital abad ke-21 untuk membantu pembelajaran materi lingkaran yang tergolong sulit dan pembelajaran hanya menggunakan buku paket. Jenis penelitian ini adalah research and development (R&D) dengan model Borg and Gall yang terdiri dari tahapan potensi dan masalah, pengumpulan data, Pengembangan Produk, validasi desain, revisi desain, uji coba pendahuluan, revisi, uji coba skala luas, revisi. Subyek penelitian ini siswa SMP Negeri 5 kota Serang. Instrumen pengumpulan data menggunakan angket dan tes lalu dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif dan juga kualitatif. Media pembelajaran yang dikembangkan terdiri dari aplikasi Happy Math War dan buku pedoman. Software utama dalam pembuatan aplikasi ialah Construct 2 dan software Canva untuk membuat gambar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran game edukasi Happy Math War valid, praktis, dan efektif. Media pembelajaran sangat valid dengan persentase ahli media 90%, sangat baik dari segi materi dengan persentase 88%, praktis dari segi respon guru dengan persentase 80%, sangat praktis dari segi respon peserta didik dengan persentase 91%. Keefektifan media dari uji paired sample t test telah signifikan dan terdapat perbedaan rata-rata dengan Asymp Sig 2-tailed 0,000 < 0,05. Dengan demikian media telah valid, praktis dan efektif digunakan dalam pembelajaran matematika.
