Abstract

Students consider chemistry a difficult subject and seem boring, this causes students' understanding of chemistry to be low. According to students, chemistry is one of the subjects they find difficult. In this modern era, students must have critical thinking skills that can help them process information quickly and make the right decisions.PDC learning model (Preparing Doing Concluding) involves preparing (preparing) the concept of learning with students about what they know initially so that they have a strong basic knowledge from reading the literature that has been given by the teacher and other literature. After that, students do (doing) experiments on electrolyte and nonelectrolyte solutions, and then conclude (concluding), where things need to be considered related to the problems that have been given in previous learning. Through these steps, students will remember learning more easily, the reason is that this can be the basis for developing students' critical thinking skills.The design in this study used the Pre-Experimental design of the One Group Pretest-Posttest type. Based on the research results, the application of PDC learning (preparing doing concluding) has a positive influence in the process of improving students' critical thinking skills in the material of electrolyte and nonelectrolyte solutions. This is evidenced by the acquisition of N-Gain scores on 5 indicators of students' critical thinking skills in the medium category, then statistical tests were carried out Paired Sample T-Test obtained a significance value of 0.000 <0.05 which means the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.

Additional Information: Peserta dididk menganggap kimia pelajaran yang sukar dan terkesan membosankan hal ini menyebabkan pemahaman peserta didik rendah terhadap ilmu kimia. Menurut peserta didik, kimia merupakan salah satu mata pelajaran yang mereka anggap sulit. Di era modern ini, peserta didik harus memiliki kemampuan berpikir kritis yang dapat membantu mereka memproses informasi dengan cepat dan membuat keputusan yang tepat. Model pembelajaran PDC (Preparing Doing Concluding) melibatkan persiapan (preparing) konsep belajar bersama siswa tentang apa yang mereka ketahui awalnya agar mereka memiliki pengetahuan dasar yang kuat dari membaca literatur yang telah diberikan oleh guru dan literatur lainnya. Setelah itu, siswa melakukan (doing) eksperimen tentang larutan elektrolit dan non elektrolit, dan kemudian menyimpulkan (concluding), dimana hal-hal yang perlu diperhatikan terkait permasalahan yang telah diberikan pada pembelajaran sebelumnya. Melalui langkah-langkah tersebut, peserta didik akan mengingat pembelajaran dengan lebih mudah, alasannya adalah hal ini dapat menjadi dasar dalam mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Desain pada penelitian ini memakai rancangan dari Pre-Eksperimental tipe The One Group Pretest-Posttest. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, penerapan pembelajaran PDC (preparing doing concluding) memiliki pengaruh positif dalam proses peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada materi larutan elektrolit dan non elektrolit. Hal tersebut dibuktikan dengan perolehan nilai N-Gain pada 5 indikator keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik dengan kategori sedang, kemudian dilakukan uji statistik Paired Sample T-Test diperoleh nilai signifikansi 0,000 < 0,05 yang berarti hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima.
