Abstract

The research was to analyze the argumentation skills of students classs X in 1 Pandeglang High School to describe the students argumentative ability used in especially regarding socio-scientific on virus materials. Descriptive analysis as a research method. The instruments used was essays test. The argumentative ability further analyze using Toulmin’s Argumentation Pattern (TAP). Based on analysis showed that ascpect has very good criteria for claim and evidence with 98% and 97%. For the good criteria with 71% showed in the aspect of warrant. For the low criteria 26% and 29% showed in aspect backing and rebuttal and for the very low criteria showed in aspect qualifers 12%. It can be seen that the highest students argumentation ability is at level 3 because students have quite strong arguments with claims, evidence and warrants. Additional Information: Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui profil keterampilan berargumentasi siswa kelas X di SMA Negeri 1 Pandeglang pada pembelajaran khususnya mengenai isu sosiosaintifik pada materi virus. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yakni penelitian deskriptif analisis. Instrumen yang digunakan menggunakan tes berupa soal uraian. Analisis data menggunakan Toulmin’s Argumentation Pattern (TAP). Berdasarkan hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa pada kriteria sangat baik untuk pernyataan (claim) dan data (evidence) 98% dan 97%. Untuk kriteria baik sebesar 71% pada aspek alasan (warrant). Untuk kriteria rendah 26% dan 29% pada aspek pendukung (backing) sanggahan (rebuttal) dan untuk kriteria sangat rendah pada aspek kualifikasi (qualifer) 12%. Keterampilan argumentasi siswa berada pada level 3 karena siswa sudah memiliki argumen yang cukup kuat dibuktikan dengan kemunculan claim, evidence dan warrrant.
