Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of monetary policy on the development of electronic money transactions in 11 developing countries, both in the short and long term. The monetary policy adopted is Reference Interest Rate as the core independent variable with M2, Inflation and Exchange Rate as control variables. The data used is quarterly data from 2010:Q1 to 2022:Q4. This study uses the ARDL or Pooled Mean Group method. Based on the PMG estimation results, in the short term the independent variables have no effect. Meanwhile in the long term, the reference interest rate, inflation and exchange rates have a significant negative effect on electronic money transactions. Meanwhile, the M2 variable has a significant positive effect on electronic money transactions.
