Abstract
The aim of the research was to find out the influence of BBC Earth Kids videos on students’ writing ability in the descriptive text at SMAN 6 Kota Serang. In conducting the research, the researcher used quantitative research by applying quasi experimental design. The population of this research was the tenth-grade students of SMAN 6 Kota Serang. The sample was chosen by using convenience sampling and was divided into experimental class and control class. Each class consists of 35 students. Pre-test was given to both classes. Then the treatment was given to experimental and control classes but in different ways. To find the influence, post-test was given to both classes. The researcher used content validity and inter-rater reliability to measure the validity and reliability of the instruments. In testing the hypothesis, the researcher used t-test as formula. The calculation showed the result of tcount was higher than ttable (2.31 > 2.00) with the significance 0.05 (5%). It was indicated that the alternative hypothesis was accepted. In other words, there was an influence of BBC Earth Kids videos on students’ writing ability in the descriptive text at SMAN 6 Kota Serang.

| Additional Information: | Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh video BBC Earth Kids terhadap kemampuan menulis siswa dalam teks deskriptif di SMAN 6 Kota Serang. Dalam melakukan penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan menerapkan desain quasi experimental. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas sepuluh di SMAN 6 Kota Serang. Sampel dipilih menggunakan convenience sampling dan dibagi menjadi kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Setiap kelas terdiri dari 35 siswa. Pre-test diberikan kepada kedua kelas. Kemudian perlakuan diberikan kepada kelas eksperimen dan kontrol namun dengan cara yang berbeda. Untuk mengetahui pengaruhnya, post-test diberikan kepada kedua kelas. Peneliti menggunakan content validity dan inter rater reliability untuk mengukur validitas dan reliabilitas instrumen. Dalam menguji hipotesis, peneliti menggunakan uji-t sebagai formula. Perhitungan menunjukkan bahwa hasil t hitung lebih tinggi daripada t tabel (2.31 > 2.00) dengan signifikansi 0,05 (5%). Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa hipotesis alternatif diterima. Dengan kata lain, terdapat pengaruh video BBC Earth Kids terhadap kemampuan menulis siswa dalam teks deskriptif di SMAN 6 Kota Serang. | |||||||||
