Abstract
The objective of this research is to find out the influence of using Simon says game toward student’s vocabulary mastery in learning English at the 7th grade of Islamic Junior High School in Rangkasbitung. A quantitative research implementing the time series design type of Quasi-Experimental was employed to know the influence of Simon says game technique toward student’s vocabulary mastery in learning English. The subject of the research was the 7th grade students of Islamic Junior High School in Rangkasbitung 2022/2023 academic year which consisted of 17 students. The result of the research showed there was any influence of using Simon Says game in learning vocabulary. It can be seen from the results that the average N-gain score was 0.275 and this value is greater than 0.7, so the category obtained is high, and it also means the influence is high. Then for the N-gain percent, the average value was 27.584, seen from the category of interpretation of the effectiveness of the N-gain Score in the form of a percentage, the value was greater than 76 per cent, the last from the effect size value in the mean difference column. The value of effect size was 0,67. When viewed from the effect size criteria table, the value was included in the medium category. In conclusion, The Simon Says game was giving influence toward students’ vocabulary mastery in learning English vocabulary at the 7th grade of Islamic Junior High School in Rangkasbitung.

Additional Information: | Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan Simon said game terhadap penguasaan kosa kata siswa dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di kelas 7 SMP Islam di Rangkasbitung. Sebuah penelitian kuantitatif yang menerapkan desain time series tipe Quasi-Experimental digunakan untuk mengetahui pengaruh teknik permainan kata Simon terhadap penguasaan kosa kata siswa dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Subyek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII SMP Islam Rangkasbitung tahun ajaran 2022/2023 yang berjumlah 17 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada pengaruh penggunaan permainan Simon Says dalam pembelajaran kosa kata. Terlihat dari hasil rata-rata skor N-gain adalah 0,275 dan nilai ini lebih besar dari 0,7, sehingga kategori yang diperoleh tinggi, berarti pengaruhnya juga tinggi. Kemudian untuk persen N-gain nilai rata-ratanya adalah 27,584, dilihat dari kategori interpretasi efektivitas N-gain Score dalam bentuk persentase, nilainya lebih besar dari 76 persen, terakhir dari nilai effect size pada kolom mean difference. Nilai effect size adalah 0,67. Jika dilihat dari tabel kriteria effect size, nilai tersebut termasuk dalam kategori sedang. Kesimpulannya, permainan The Simon Says memberikan pengaruh terhadap penguasaan kosa kata siswa dalam pembelajaran kosa kata bahasa Inggris di kelas 7 SMP Islam Rangkasbitung. | |||||||||
