Abstract

Economic growth is something that is absolute and necessary in a country's economy. Several studies show the influence of non-economic factors on economic growth, one of which is the population factor. The role of humans in creating economic growth is very dominant, but must be equipped with human capital. Statistical data from ASEAN countries shows that the proportion of working age continues to increase in every country with high potential to increase economic growth. By using the fixed effect model and the feasible generalized least squares (FGLS) method, this research examines the conditions of the demographic transition in 9 ASEAN countries in the 1950-2030 period and examines the relationship and influence of the demographic transition variables and human capital on economic growth in the 9 ASEAN countries in the 1950-2030 period. 2000-2021. The results of the study show that the demographic transition that occurred in 9 ASEAN countries is still in stages two and three. Furthermore, it was found that demography and human capital had a significant effect in different directions on economic growth in 9 ASEAN countries.
