Abstract

Cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) is a horticultural crop that is widely cultivated in Indonesia. The production center for producing red cayenne pepper in Manokwari Regency is in Prafi District, where the average population works as farmers. However, farmers are still unable to meet market needs at affordable prices. One of the factors causing the increase in the price of cayenne pepper is the marketing chain which is long enough to affect consumer purchasing prices and the profits of marketing institutions that are not optimal. The research objective was to determine the marketing chain, costs, margins, profits, and marketing efficiency of red cayenne pepper in Prafi District, Manokwari Regency. This type of research is descriptive analysis research with a quantitative approach. The technique of determining the location of the study was done purposively. This study uses 2 (two) types of data, primary data and secondary data. The sampling technique used purposive sampling and snowball sampling. The results of this study show that there are 3 (three) marketing chains of red cayenne pepper in Prafi District. The lowest marketing costs are in marketing chain I, which is Rp. 1,220.00/Kg. The highest marketing margin is in marketing chain III, which is Rp. 60,000/Kg. The lowest technical efficiency is found in the marketing chain II of 40. The highest economic efficiency is found in marketing chain I of 7,3.

Additional Information: Cabai rawit (Capsicum frutescens L.) adalah tanaman hortikultura yang banyak dibudidayakan di Indonesia. Sentra produksi penghasil cabai rawit merah di Kabupaten Manokwari terdapat di Distrik Prafi, dimana rata-rata penduduknya bekerja sebagai petani. Namun demikian, petani di Distrik Prafi masih belum mampu memenuhi kebutuhan pasar dengan harga yang terjangkau. Salah satu faktor penyebab kenaikan harga cabai rawit yaitu rantai pemasaran yang cukup panjang sehingga berpengaruh terhadap harga beli konsumen di pasar dan keuntungan lembaga pemasaran yang tidak optimal. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui rantai pemasaran, biaya, margin, keuntungan, dan efisiensi pemasaran cabai rawit merah di Distrik Prafi, Kabupaten Manokwari. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif analisis dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Teknik penentuan lokasi penelitian dilakukan secara sengaja (purposive). Penelitian ini menggunakan 2 (dua) jenis data, yaitu data primer dan data sekunder. Teknik pengambilan sampel dengan menggunakan purposive sampling dan snowball sampling. Hasil penelitian ini diketahui terdapat 3 (tiga) saluran pemasaran cabai rawit merah di Distrik Prafi Kabupaten Manokwari. Biaya pemasaran terendah terdapat pada pada salura pemasaran I, sebesar Rp. 1.220,00/Kg. Margin pemasaran tertinggi terdapat pada saluran pemasaran III, sebesar Rp. 60.000/Kg. Efisiensi teknis terendah terdapat pada saluran pemasaran II, sebesar 40. Efisiensi ekonomis tertinggi terdapat pada saluran pemasaran I, sebesar 7,3.
