Abstract

Learning mathematics in early childhood is an area that is needed to stimulate children's thinking skills and memory, and can influence children's development in other aspects. The ability of children to know mathematics can be well understood if the learning model used by the teacher is suitable for development and uses concrete tools. This study aims to determine the implementation of the Montessori model in learning mathematics for children aged 5-6 years. This research used descriptive qualitative research. Data collection procedures used in this research were observation, interviews, and documentation. The result of the study showed that the implementation of the Montessori model in learning mathematics in children aged 5-6 years can recognize numbers from 1-10 to number operations with concrete tools or Montessori apparatus so that children more easily know and understand, and also able to complete activities without assistance from the teacher.

Additional Information: Pembelajaran matematika untuk anak usia dini merupakan ranah yang sangat dibutuhkan untuk menstimulasi anak dalam kemampuan berpikir, dan daya ingat anak, serta dapat mempengaruhi perkembangan anak pada aspek lainnya. Kemampuan anak mengenal matematika dapat dipahami dengan baik jika model pembelajaran yang digunakan oleh guru sesuai dengan perkembangan dan menggunakan alat konkret. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui implementasi model Montessori dalam pembelajaran matematika anak usia 5-6 tahun. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Prosedur pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi model Montessori dalam pembelajaran matematika pada anak usia 5-6 tahun anak sudah mampu mengenal bilangan 1-10 sampai operasi bilangan dengan alat konkret atau apparatus Montessori sehingga anak lebih mudah paham dan mengerti serta mampu menyelesaikan kegiatan tanpa bantuan oleh guru.
