Abstract

The curriculum 2013 requires students to take an active role in learning, one of the subjects in the curriculum 2013 is chemistry. Based on data in the field, chemistry places more emphasis on theory compared to the benefits of chemistry in everyday life, the solution to this problem is to create SETS-oriented modules. One of the chemical materials that requires SETS-oriented modules is petroleum material because it is one of the materials that is very closely related to everyday life. The purpose of this study was to analyze differences in student learning outcomes before and after using the SETS-oriented module on petroleum. The research design used in this study is one grup pretest-posttest. The samples involved in this study were 34 students of class XI MIA 5. Student learning outcomes were measured by questions pretest-posttest, the achievement of learning SETS is measured by the application of existing concepts in the module, and student responses are measured by questionnaires. The questions and questionnaire sheets were validated using the Aikens test. In the matter tested for reliability using Cronbach's Alpha. Data were analyzed statistically using uji paired sample t-test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that there were differences in student learning outcomes before and after using the SETS-oriented module on petroleum material. This is evidenced from the average posttest experienced an increase from the average pretest. The results of the achievement of the SETS dimension experienced an increase in each meeting, and based on the student response questionnaire sheet, the average percentage of all 34 students was 86.9% with a very high student response category. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that the application of SETS-oriented modules to petroleum material can be used by students in the learning process at school and can improve student learning outcomes.

Additional Information: Kurikulum 2013 menuntut siswa untuk turut berperan aktif dalam pembelajaran, salah satu mata pelajaran pada kurikulum 2013 adalah kimia. Berdasarkan data di lapangan, kimia lebih menekankan pada teori dibandingkan dengan manfaat ilmu kimia dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, solusi untuk permasalahn tersebut adalah dengan diciptakannya modul beorientasi SETS. Salah satu materi kimia yang membutuhkan modul berorientasi SETS adalah materi minyak bumi karena salah satu materi yang sangat erat kaitannya dengan kehidupan sehari-hari. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis perbedaan hasil belajar siswa sebelum dan sesudah penggunaan modul berorientasi SETS pada materi minyak bumi. Desain penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah one grup pretest-posttest. Sampel yang terlibat dalam penelitian ini adalah 34 siswa kelas XI MIA 5. Hasil belajar siswa diukur dengan soal pretest-posttest, ketercapaian pembelajaran SETS diukur dengan aplikasi konsep yang ada pada modul, dan respon siswa diukur dengan lembar angket. Soal dan lembar angket divalidasi dengan menggunakan uji Aikens. Pada soal diuji reliabilitasnya menggunakan Cronbach's Alpha. Data dianalisis secara statistik menggunakan uji paired sample t-test dengan taraf signifikansi 0,05. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar siswa sebelum dan sesudah penggunaan modul beorientasi SETS pada materi minyak bumi. Hal ini dibuktikan dari rata-rata posttest mengalami kenaikan dari rata-rata pretest. Hasil ketercapaian dimensi SETS mengalami peningkatan di setiap pertemuannya, dan berdasarkan lembar angket respon siswa didapat persentase seluruh rata-rata 34 siswa sebesar 86,9% dengan kategori respon siswa sangat tinggi. Berdasarkan hasil analisis dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan modul berorientasi SETS pada materi minyak bumi dapat digunakan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran di sekolah dan dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa.
