Abstract

Osteoporosis is one of the degenerative diseases are diseases that arise as a result of the aging process. Reduction of bone mass occurs first in the spine (spinal vertebrae). This study determines the number of pixels of binary image of an X-ray image of a normal spinal bones and osteoporosis. The imagery used is 10 images osteoporosis and 10 normal image of Orthopaedic Hospital Surakarta. Determining the value of the image pixel utilizing image processing theory with the help of Matlab program. The results showed for normal spinal image has a white pixel value for 6849 up to 13 957 for the image of vertebral osteoporosis pixel value of 616 up to 6343. Pixel value is generated by using a value of 0.65 threshol so under threshol calculated value of 0 if the above values are calculated threshol 1. Thus spinal analysis using comparative pixel values of white and black can be used as a new method of detection of osteoporosis is considered a representation of value density or density.
