Abstract

This research was conducted on the basis of the problem of low self-esteem in adolescents. Researchers try to offer alternative solutions to problems by designing self-help books. This study aims to find out how the design of self help books as a medium increases adolescent self-esteem, as well as the level of feasibility that has been tested by linguists, materials, media and product trials. The method used in this research is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model, which includes analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The subjects of this study were students of class XI at SMK Yappika Serpong. Data collection techniques using instruments. Data analysis was then analyzed descriptively with the following results obtained, (1) validity test from linguists, materials, and media experts obtained a percentage of 85%, which means that self-help books are feasible to use, (2) product trials are limited to 5 class XI students of SMK Yappika Serpong can be proven by giving back the self-esteem instrument and the results obtained are that respondents have an increase after being given a self-help book product. It can be concluded that the design of self help books as a medium to increase adolescent self-esteem is feasible to implement.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini dilakukan atas dasar permasalahan rendahnya self esteem pada remaja. Peneliti mencoba untuk menawarkan alternatif pemacahan masalah dengan perancangan self help book. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana perancangan self help book sebagai media meningkatkan self esteem remaja, serta tingkat kelayakan yang telah diuji oleh ahli bahasa, materi, media dan uji coba produk. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan model ADDIE, yang meliputi analysis, design, development, implementation, dan evaluation. Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI SMK Yappika Serpong. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen. Analisis data kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan hasil yang diperoleh sebgai berikut, (1) uji validitas dari ahli bahasa, materi, dan media mendapatkan presentase sebesar 85% yang berarti buku bantu diri layak untuk digunakan, (2) uji coba produk secara terbatas kepada 5 siswa kelas XI SMK Yappika Serpong dapat dibuktikan dengan diberikannya kembali instrumen self esteem dan hasil yang didapatkan bahwa responden memiliki peningkatan setelah diberikan produk buku bantu diri. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa perancangan self help book sebagai media meningkatkan self esteem remaja layak untuk diimplementasikan.
