Abstract

The tradition of ruwat laut is synonymous with the banning of buffalo heads and offerings that are brought out to the sea, but in Sukanagara Village they were eliminated. This change caused conflict between religious leaders and the community. The purpose of this study is to describe the tradition of the ritual of the sea in favor of religion, to describe the tradition of the sea in favor of culture and to describe the tradition of the sea in social thinking. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, the sources or informants in this study are religious leaders, auction managers and the community. The data collection carried out were observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study found that the tradition of marine rituals in this village was not fully in accordance with the teachings of Islam. The results of the study found that the tradition of marine rituals in this village was not fully in accordance with the teachings of Islam. Because there are still two offerings that cannot be disposed of, such as seven-faced flowers and seven-flavored drinks, they are materials that are prayed for during the implementation process so that people expect blessings from God Almighty. The tradition of marine rituals in Sukanagara Carita Village first underwent a change in 1992, with a series of rituals starting from reading Syekh Abdul Qodir Jaelani, chanting, eating together and circling the cilurah estuary by fishing boat. The tradition of marine rituals can build a sense of mutual cooperation, solidarity and the establishment of friendly ties. The tradition of marine rituals in Sukanagara Village has not fully experienced Islamization. The marine ritual process can be changed if it is no longer in accordance with the conditions of society. The marine ritual tradition can revive social interaction in society such as social contact and social communication. However, because it has undergone changes, the involvement of non-fishing communities is not what it used to be.

Additional Information:	Tradisi ruwat laut identik dengan pelarungan kepala kerbau dan sesajen yang dibawa ke tengah laut namun di Desa Sukanagara dihilangkan, perubahan ini menyebabkan terjadinya pertentangan antara tokoh agama dan masyarakat. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan tradisi ruwat laut dalam tinjauan agama, mendeskripsikan ruwat laut dalam tinjauan budaya dan mendeskripsikan ruwat laut dalam tinjauan sosial. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif, narasumber atau informan dalam penelitian ini yaitu tokoh agama, pengelola pelelangan dan masyarakat. Pengumpulan data yang dilakukan yaitu observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa tradisi ruwat laut di Desa ini belum sepenuhnya sesuai dengan ajaran agama Islam. Karena masih ada dua bahan sesajen dahulu yang belum bisa dibuang seperti bunga tujuh rupa dan minuman 7 rasa menjadi bahan yang dido’a-do’akan ketika proses pelaksanaannya sehingga masyarakat mengharapkan keberkahan dari Tuhan Yang Maha Esa. Tradisi ruwat laut di Desa Sukanagara Carita pertama kali mengalami perubahan pada tahun 1992, dengan rangkaian ritual mulai dari pembacaan Syekh Abdul Qodir Jaelani, riungan, makan bersama dan mengelilingi muara cilurah dengan kapal ikan. Tradisi ruwat laut dapat membangun rasa gotong royong, solidaritas dan terjalinnya tali silaturahmi. Tradisi ruwat laut di Desa Sukanagara belum sepenuhnya mengalami Islamisasi, tradisi ruwat laut dapat dirubah proses ritualnya apabila sudah tak sesuai dengan kondisi masyarakat lagi, tradisi ruwat laut dapat menghidupkan interaksi sosial dalam masyarakat seperti kontak sosial dan komunikasi sosial. Namun karena telah mengalami perubahan keterlibatan masyarakat non nelayan sudah tak sama seperti dulu.
