Abstract
The purpose of this study was to descibe the profile of students' critical thinking skills on the socio scientific issues (SSI) strategy on environmental pollution material for the X3 Olympic class at MAN 2 Cilegon City. The method used was analysis description. The population of this study was all X classes with a sample of X3 Olympiade classes carried out by randomly using simple random sampling technique. Data was collected in February 2023. The research instruments essay questions critical thinking skills, observation sheets for the implementation of socio scientific issues (SSI) learning strategies and student response interview sheets. Research result obtained that profile student critical thinking ability has 39.3% of students with very critical criteria, 30.3% of students are in critical criteria, 21.2% of students are in fairly critical criteria and 9% of students are in less critical criteria. Suggestions given in further research using different topics, so that broader information was obtained about the socio scientific issues strategy and developing students' critical thinking for the better. Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui profil kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada strategi socio scientific issues (SSI) materi pencemaran lingkungan kelas X3 olimpiade di MAN 2 Kota Cilegon. Metode yang digunakan yaitu deskriptif analisis. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh kelas X dengan sampel kelas X3 Olimpiade yang diambil secara acak menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Pengambilan data dilakukan pada bulan Februari 2023. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan terdiri dari soal uraian kemampuan berpikir kritis, lembar observasi keterlaksanaan strategi pembelajaran socio scientific issues (SSI) dan lembar wawancara respon peserta didik. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik kelas X3 di MAN 2 Kota Cilegon pada strategi strategi Socio Scientific Issues (SSI) materi pencemaran lingkungan yaitu 39,3% peserta didik berada dalam kriteria sangat kritis, 30,3% peserta didik berada dalam kriteria kritis, 21,2% peserta didik berada dalam kriteria cukup kritis dan 9% peserta didik berada dalam kriteria kurang kritis. Saran yang diberikan dalam penelitian selanjutnya dengan menggunakan topik yang berbeda, sehingga diperoleh informasi yang lebih luas mengenai strategi socio scientific issues dan mengembangkan berpikir kritis peserta didik menjadi lebih baik.
