Abstract
This study aims to describe the effect of Let's Read and Literacycloud applications on short story reading skills at the Nine Grade students of SMPN 5 Serang City in the 2022/2023 Academic Year. Data collection techniques in this study using test techniques and the test instrument used is the form of multiple choice question and description. The population used was all students of Nine Grade at SMPN 5 Serang City in academic year 2022/2023 in semester II with a total of 431. Meanwhile, the sample used based on the simple random sampling technique was class IX C as the class that was treated with the Let's Read application learning media and class IX D as the class that was treated with the Literacycloud application learning media with a total of 87 students. The results of the second sampling to obtain students based on an error rate of 10% were 68 students divided equally in the sample class or as many as 34 students for each research class. Testing hypothesis 1 resulted in the finding that tcount ≥ ttable or 14.666 ≥ 1.668, then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted so that it can be seen that there is an effect of the Let's Read application on short story reading skills. Testing hypothesis 2 resulted in the finding that tcount ≥ ttable or 12.731 ≥ 1.668, then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted so that it can be seen that there is an effect of the Literacycloud application on short story reading skills. Testing hypothesis 3 resulted in the finding that tcount ≥ ttable or 8.162 ≥ 2.034, then H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted so that there was a difference in the effect of Let's Read and Literacycloud applications on short story reading skills. The influence of the Let's Read learning media application, which is 14.666, is greater than the influence of the Literacycloud learning media application, which is 12.731. So it can be concluded that the Let's Read application learning media is better than the Literacycloud application learning media for short story reading skills in class IX students of SMPN 5 Kota Serang in the 2022/2023 Academic Year.
