Abstract
Background Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a health problem with a consistently increasing prevalence and more than 95% of DM patients are type 2 DM. The most important factor affecting the mortality rate of type 2 DM is the lack of self-care management behavior. Patients with high health literacy have stronger motivation in self-care management. The difference in results from various previous studies made researchers interested in conducting research on the relationship between health literacy and self-care management of type 2 DM patients in the working area of the Cikuya Health Center, Tangerang Regency, in 2022. Method This study used a cross-sectional study design with the HLS-EU-SQ10-IDN instrument to measure the level of health literacy, and SDSCA-I to measure the level of self-care management in DM patients. The sample in this study were 45 patients with type 2 DM in the working area of the Cikuya Community Health Center, Tangerang Regency. Results In the bivariate analysis of the two variables, the results were obtained using the Fisher's Exact Test, the value of P = 0.454 or not significantly significant. Furthermore, the gamma correlation test obtained a value of G = -0.290. Conclusion There is no significant relationship between health literacy and self-care management of type 2 DM patients and the results show a negative correlation between the two variables with a low level of closeness. | Additional Information: | Latar Belakang Diabetes Melitus (DM) merupakan masalah kesehatan dengan prevalensi yang terus konsisten meningkat dan lebih dari 95% pasien DM merupakan DM tipe 2. Faktor terpenting yang mempengaruhi tingkat mortalitas DM tipe 2 yaitu kurangnya perilaku manajemen perawatan diri. Pasien dengan literasi kesehatan yang tinggi memiliki motivasi yang lebih kuat dalam manajemen perawatan diri. Perbedaan hasil dari berbagai penelitian sebelumnya membuat peneliti tertarik untuk melakukan penelitian hubungan literasi kesehatan dengan manajemen perawatan diri pasien DM tipe 2 di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Cikuya Kabupaten Tangerang tahun 2022. Metode Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian cross sectional dengan instrumen HLS-EU-SQ10-IDN untuk mengukur tingkat literasi kesehatan, dan SDSCA-I untuk mengukur tingkat manajemen perawatan diri pasien DM. Sampel pada penelitian ini merupakan 45 pasien DM tipe 2 di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Cikuya Kabupaten Tangerang. Hasil Pada analisis bivariat kedua variabel didapatkan hasil menggunakan uji Fisher’s Exact Test nilai P = 0,454 atau tidak bermakna signifikan. Selanjutnya uji korelasi gamma didapatkan nilai G= -0,290. Kesimpulan Tidak terdapat hubungan bermakna antara literasi kesehatan dengan manajemen perawatan diri pasien DM tipe 2 dan didapatkan hasil korelasi negatif antara kedua variabel dengan tingkat keeratan hubungan rendah.
