Abstract

Introduction Stress refers to experiences related to physical, mental or emotional tension in response to real or imaginary stimuli. The prevalence of stress in medical students at 6 universities in Sudan is 31.7% and at Andalas University is 58%. Stress can affect student failure in facing the Objective Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE). In addition, the length of study time can also affect OSCE results. Students who have a longer study time have better academic performance. The OSCE failure rate at the UGM Faculty of Medicine, Public Health and Nursing is 42.8%. This study aims to determine Correlation between stress level on exams and passing the OSCE in the basic clinical skills module for students of medical faculty Untirta Method This research is an observational analytic study with a cross sectional approach. The research subjects were grade 3 and 4 students with a sample size of 88 people. Stress level data were taken using the Westside Anxiety Test Scale questionnaire and OSCE passing data using secondary data. Bivariate analysis was performed using the chi square method. Result The most common stress level on exam experienced by students was moderate stress (47.6%) followed by heavy (37%) and light (16.3%) stress levels. OSCE KKD 3 had the highest failure rate (23.9%) followed by OSCE KKD 2 (10.9%) and KKD 1 (7.6%). As many as 62% of students have study time >2 hours per day. The results of the bivariate analysis showed that there was no correlation between passing the OSCE KKD with stress level on exams and the length of study time per day. Conclusion There is no correlation between passing the OSCE KKD with stress levels on exams and length of study time per day.
