Abstract

Introduction: Metacognitive awareness is a high-level thinking that involves active control over the cognitive processes involved in learning. Based on several studies it was found that metacognitive awareness is related to learning outcomes. Seeing the importance of metacognitive awareness for medical students and there is still little research on the relationship between metacognitive awareness and learning outcomes in medical students, so the researchers were interested in assessing the relationship between the metacognitive awareness component and the learning outcomes of medical students at the academic stage at the Medical Faculty of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. Method: This research is a quantitative observational analytic study with a cross-sectional method. Sampling used the total sampling method with 165 subject. The data were then analyzed using univariate and bivariate statistics using a correlation test. Result: The results of the study found that the components of cognitive knowledge, namely declarative (p = 0.410), procedural (p = 0.187), and conditional (p = 0.927) did not significantly influence the learning outcomes of medical students (p > 0.05). In the components of cognition regulation, namely planning (p = 0.221), information management strategies (p = 0.514), understanding monitoring (p = 0.996), and evaluation (p = 0.873) did not significantly influence student learning outcomes. While the correction strategy has a significant relationship with learning outcomes (p = 0.01). In the analysis of the total metacognitive awareness score on learning outcomes, it was found that there was no significant relationship (p = 0.510). Conclusion: There is a non-significant relationship between metacognitive awareness and learning outcomes of medical students at the academic stage at the Medical Faculty of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University for all components, both cognitive knowledge components and cognitive regulation components. Additional Information: Latar Belakang: Kesadaran metakognisi merupakan pemikiran tingkat tinggi yang melibatkan kontrol aktif atas proses kognisi yang terlibat dalam pembelajaran. Berdasarkan beberapa penelitian ditemukan bahwa kesadaran metakognisi berhubungan dengan hasil belajar. Melihat pentingnya kesadaran metakognisi bagi mahasiswa kedokteran dan masih sedikit penelitian mengenai hubungan kesadaran metakognitif dengan hasil belajar pada mahasiswa kedokteran, maka peneliti tertarik untuk menilai hubungan komponen kesadaran metakognisi dengan hasil belajar mahasiswa kedokteran tahap akademik di Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif analitik observasional dengan metode cross-sectional. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan metode total sampling dengan jumlah subjek sebanyak 165. Data kemudian dianalisis statistik univariat dan bivariat dengan uji korelasi. Hasil: Hasil penelitian ditemukkan bahwa pada komponen pengetahuan kognisi yaitu, deklaratif (p = 0,410), prosedural (p = 0,187), dan kondisional (p = 0,927) tidak berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap hasil belajar mahasiswa kedokteran (p > 0,05). Pada komponen regulasi kognisi yaitu, perencanaan (p = 0,221), strategi manajemen informasi (p = 0,514), pemantauan pemahaman (p = 0,996), dan evaluasi (p = 0,873) tidak berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap hasil belajar mahasiswa. Sedangkan strategi koreksi terdapat hubungan yang signifikan dengan hasil belajar (p = 0,01). Pada analisis total skor kesadaran metakognisi terhadap hasil belajar ditemukan tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan (p = 0,510) Kesimpulan: Terdapat hubungan yang tidak bermakna antara kesadaran metakognisi dengan hasil belajar mahasiswa kedokteran tahap akademik di Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa untuk seluruh komponen baik komponen pengatahuan kognisi dan komponen regulasi kognisi.
