Abstract

Foreign Direct Investment is a real investment in which investors participate directly in the management and control of the company. The purpose of FDI in a country is to advance the country's economy with the help of foreign capital in the long term. This study aims to analyze Foreign Direct Investment in ASEAN-5 with the Corruption Perception Index during the period 2001-2019 using the control variables, namely Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Interest Rates. This study uses five ASEAN countries studied, namely the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam and uses panel data with a fixed effect model (FEM) estimation model obtained from certain institutions such as the World Bank and Transparency International. The results of this study indicate that partially the corruption perception index and gross domestic product have a positive and significant effect on foreign direct investment in ASEAN-5 for the period 2001-2019. Meanwhile, interest rates have a negative and significant effect on foreign direct investment in ASEAN-5 for the period 2001-2019. Simultaneously the corruption perception index, gross domestic product and interest rates have a significant effect on foreign direct investment in ASEAN-5 for the period 2001-2019.
