Abstract
Fiber concrete is a construction material consisting of a mixture of coarse aggregate (gravel), fine aggregate (sand), cement, water and additional artificial fibers / natural fibers. This study used bamboo fiber with a content of 0.6% of the weight of cement which aimed to determine the effect of the addition of a superplasticizer on variations of 0%, 0.5%, 1% and 1.5% of the water requirement on the compressive strength and tensile strength of concrete. The results of the study conducted using bamboo fiber concrete and superplasticizer obtained average compressive strength values sequentially, amounted to 13,037 MPa, 13,837 Mpa, 12,016 MPa and 11,083 MPa in variations of 0%, 0.5%, 1% and 1.5% aged 7 days and amounted to 20,792 MPa, 21,273 Mpa, 19,501 MPa and 16,272 MPa at variations of 0%, 0.5%, 1% and 1.5% age 28 days. The average results for the tensile strength of bamboo fiber concrete and superplasticizers were respectively 1,310 MPa, 1,422 MPa, 1,361 MPa and 1,079 MPa at variations of 0%, 0.5%, 1% and 1.5% aged 7 days and 2,081 MPa, 2,126 MPa, 2,096 MPa and 1,635 MPa for 28 days of age. Based on the data on the mechanical properties of bamboo fiber concrete and superplasticer, the optimum value of the superplasticizer variation is found in the variation of 0.5%.
