Abstract

The low ability of mathematical literacy is not only due to the rare use of questions that refer to literacy skills, but also due to low student learning independence in learning, where learning independence is strongly influenced by learning motivation. the success of students in learning mathematics, including internal factors which include initial abilities, and learning motivation. The success of learning mathematics in question is in accordance with the objectives of learning mathematics, namely to improve mathematical abilities, one of which is mathematical literacy ability. This research is a quantitative approach research with survey research methods, with the aim of knowing the effect of early math skills on mathematical literacy skills through motivation and independent learning. The data analysis technique in this study used the path analysis method with factor analysis. Factor analysis is used to test the validity and reliability of an instrument (measurement scale), while path analysis is used to examine the relationship between variables and uses the MSI (Method Of Successive Interval) to convert ordinal data into intervals. This research was conducted in the City and District of Serang. The results of this study indicate that early mathematical ability, motivation, and learning independence have a significant positive effect on students' mathematical literacy abilities of 0.047895496, and it is found that the effect of early ability variables directly on mathematical literacy abilities is greater than through the mediating variables of motivation and learning independence.

Additional Information: Rendahnya kemampuan literasi matematis selain disebabkan karena jarangnya penggunaan soal yang mengacu pada kemampuan literasi, juga dikarenakan kemandirian belajar siswa yang rendah dalam pembelajaran, dimana kemandirian belajar sangat terpengaruh oleh motivasi belajar. keberhasilan peserta didik dalam belajar matematika, diantaranya faktor internal yang meliputi kemampuan awal, dan motivasi belajar. Keberhasilan belajar matematika yang dimaksud sesuai dengan tujuan pembelajaran matematika yaitu untuk meningkatkan kemampuan matematis salah satunya kemampuan literasi matematis. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode penelitian survey, dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kemampuan awal matematika terhadap kemampuan literasi matematis melalui motivasi dan kemandirian belajar. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis jalur (path analysis) dengan analisis faktor. Analisis faktor digunakan untuk menguji validitas dan reliabilitas suatu instrumen (skala pengukuran), sedangkan analisis jalur digunakan untuk menguji hubungan antar variabel dan menggunakan MSI (Method Of Succesive Interval) untuk mengubah data ordinal menjadi interval. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kota dan Kabupaten Serang. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa Kemampuan awal matematika, motivasi, dan kemandirian belajar memberikan pengaruh positif signifikan terhadap kemampuan literasi matematis siswa sebesar 0.048, dan diperoleh bahwa pengaruh variabel kemampuan awal secara langsung terhadap kemampuan literasi matematis lebih besar dibandingkan dengan melalui variabel mediasi motivasi dan kemandirian belajar
