Abstract
In Kasemen District, the problem of malnutrition is the highest in Serang City and the scope of the program for providing vitamin A supplementation to children under five does not reach the target. Based on the low coverage of vitamin A supplementation, research is needed to assess the adequacy of vitamin A intake in children. In addition, there are research results that contradict the problem of vitamin A intake and caregiver characteristics with nutritional status, so research is needed on the relationship between caregiver characteristics and adequacy of vitamin A intake with nutritional status in children under five in Kasemen District. This analytic observational study used a cross-sectional study design which was carried out in several posyandu from the working area of the Kasemen Health Center, Serang City. The data used are anthropometric data, semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire interviews, and data related to caregiver characteristics. The data obtained were analyzed using the chi-square test and the alternative chi-square test, Kolmogorov-Smirnov. In the study, it was found that caregiver characteristics were dominated by age > 25 years (72%), primary and secondary education levels (95.1%), and income less than the UMR of Serang City (85.4%). While the characteristics of toddlers are dominated by toddler age (82.9%) and female sex (61%). In addition, it was found that the majority of children under five had sufficient intake of vitamin A (73.2%) and normal nutritional status (68.3%). In bivariate analysis, it was found that the age of the caregiver (p=0.023) and the adequacy of vitamin A intake (p<0.001) had statistically significant associations with the nutritional status of toddlers. Meanwhile, education (p=1.000) and income (p=0.841) of caregivers were found to have no statistically significant association with the nutritional status of children under five.

| Additional Information: | Di Kecamatan Kasemen memiliki permasalahan status gizi buruk tertinggi di Kota Serang dan cakupan program pemberian suplementasi vitamin A pada anak balita yang tidak mencapai target. Berdasarkan cakupan suplementasi vitamin A yang rendah, maka diperlukan penelitian yang menilai kecukupan asupan vitamin pada anak. Selain itu, adanya hasil penelitian yang bertolak belakang dari permasalahan asupan vitamin A dan karakteristik caregiver dengan status gizi, maka diperlukan penelitian mengenai hubungan antara karakteristik caregiver dan kecukupan asupan vitamin A dengan status gizi pada anak balita di Kecamatan Kasemen. Penelitian observasional analitik ini menggunakan rancangan penelitian cross-sectional yang dilaksanakan di beberapa posyandu dari wilayah kerja Puskesmas Kasemen, Kota Serang. Data yang digunakan adalah data antropometri, wawancara semi kuantitatif food frequency questionnaire, dan data terkait karakteristik caregiver. Data yang didapatkan dianalisis dengan uji chi-square dan uji alternatif chi-square, Kolmogorov-smirnov. Pada penelitian, didapatkan karakteritik caregiver didominasi oleh usia > 25 tahun (72%), tingkat pendidikan dasar dan menengah (95,1%), dan pendapatan kurang dari UMR Kota Serang (85,4%). Sedangkan karakteristik balita didominasi oleh usia batita (82,9%) dan jenis kelamin perempuan (61%). Selain itu, didapatkan bahwa mayoritas balita memiliki asupan vitamin A yang cukup (73,2%) dan status gizi normal (68,3%). Pada analisis bivariat, didapatkan bahwa usia caregiver (p=0,023) dan kecukupan asupan vitamin A (p<0,001) memiliki asosiasi bermakna secara statistik dengan status gizi balita. Sementara itu, pendidikan (p=1,000) dan pendapatan (p=0,841) caregiver ditemukan tidak memiliki asosiasi yang bermakna secara statistik dengan status gizi anak balita. | |||||||||
