Abstract

Serang City is in the tropical rainy climate category, this indicates that rainfall in certain circumstances will have highh intensity. This is what causes the occurrence of floods in the city of Serang. Therefore, it necessary to identify it to determine the periodicity and intensity level of rainfall in the city of Serang. The method used in this research is spectral analysis to determine the periodicity and the mononobe method to determine the level of intensity. The research results obtained that the periodicity of rainfall occurs 11.91 months/cycle or 35.75 decadal/cycle, meaning that rainfall in the city of Serang has a monsoonal type because it is influenced by the monsoon wind phenomenon and the level of Intensity (I) shows a return period of 25 – 100 years classified as rainfall that has intensity high between 20 – 85 mm/hour with a duration of 1 -5 hours this can cause some areas to be prone to flooding, while for a return period of 2 -10 years it is classified as normal rain to the highest heavy rain of 34.04 – 85 .78 mm/hour which takes place with in this period a short time of 1 -4 hours.
