Abstract

The objective of the research was to determine the effect of using YouTube videos toward students' vocabulary mastery at seventh grade of SMP Negeri 2 Tigaraksa. The researcher used a quantitative research method by implementing a quasi experimental research design. The population of this study was 288 students from eight classes (7A-7H). Then, there were 2 samples that researcher used in this research, 7C as experiment class and 7A as control class. She used cluster random sampling as the sampling technique. Then, the data were analyzed by using IBM SPSS 25.0 version. The analysis’s findings showed that the mean post-test score in experiment class was higher than control class (77.75 > 68.61). This indicates students’ vocabulary mastery in experimental class was better than control class after getting treatment by using YouTube videos. Meanwhile, based on the result of the analysis on t-test with the significance level 0.05 (2-tailed) with degrees of freedom (df) = 3 obtained t-count > t-table (4.495 > 2.032). Futhermore, Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. It can be concluded that there is an effect of using YouTube videos toward students' vocabulary mastery in the seventh grade of SMPN 2 Tigaraksa.
