Abstract

Highway is one of the transportation infrastructure that has a very important influence on social and economic development in the community. Roads have a function that is primarily as an infrastructure to serve the movement of human traffic and goods safely, comfortably, quickly and economically. Road availability is an absolute prerequisite for the entry of investment into an area. The causes of road damage are caused by excessive traffic loads, heat / air temperature, rain. As well as the quality of the road product is poor. Therefore, it is necessary to plan a pavement structure that is strong, durable and has high resistance to plastic deformation that occurs. This study aims to determine the effect of the addition of water hyacinth cellulose fiber in Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMA) on marshall performance that meets specifications and the optimum value of water hyacinth fiber.The results of research and discussion concluded that the effect of water hyacinth fiber variations with fiber content of 0%, 0.2%, 0.3%, 0.5% on store mastic asphalt (SMA) mixtures seen in marshall testing. From the test results it can be concluded that the Optimum Asphalt Content (KAO) value needed to improve the strength performance in withstanding traffic loads is 6.5% and 6.75%. With the best water hyacinth fiber content to withstand traffic loads, it shows that the 0.3% fiber content best meets the Bina Marga specification standards for SMA mixtures in terms of stability, VIM, VMA, VFA, Flow and MQ. Therefore, water hyacinth fiber which can be used as an alternative material to replace cellulose fiber is 0.3% fiber content.

Additional Information: Jalan raya adalah salah satu prasarana transportasi yang memiliki pengaruh sangat penting pada perkembangan sosial dan ekonomi dimasyarakat. Jalan raya memiliki fungsi yang terutama ialah sebagai prasarana melayani pergerakan lalu lintas manusia dan barang secara aman, nyaman, cepat dan ekonomis. Ketersediaan jalan adalah prasyarat mutlak bagi masuknya investasi ke suatu wilayah. Adapun penyebab kerusakan jalan yaitu disebabkan beban lalu lintas yang berlebihan, panas/ suhu udara, hujan. Serta mutu pada produk jalan tersebut yang jelek. Oleh karena itu diperlukan perencanaan struktur perkerasan yang kuat, tahan lama dan mempunyai daya tahan tinggi terhadap deformasi plastis yang terjadi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan serat selulosa eceng gondok pada Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMA) terhadap kinerja marshall yang memenuhi spesifikasi dan nilai kadar optimum serat eceng gondok. Hasil penelitian dan pembahasan disimpulkan bahwa pengaruh variasi serat eceng gondok dengan kadar serat 0%, 0,2%, 0,3%, 0,5% terhadap campuran store mastic asphalt (SMA) yang di lihat pada pengujian marshall. Dari hasil pengujian dapat disimpulkan nilai Kadar Aspal Optimum (KAO) yang dibutuhkan untuk meningkatkan kinerja kekuatan dalam menahan beban lalu lintas adalah 6,5% dan 6,75%. Dengan kadar serat eceng gondok yang paling baik untuk menahan beban lalu lintas menunjukkan pada kadar serat 0.3% yang paling memenuhi standar spesifikasi Bina Marga untuk campuran SMA dilihat dari stabilitas,VIM, VMA, VFA, Flow dan MQ. Maka dari itu, serat eceng gondok yang dapat dijadikan bahan altematif pengganti serat selulosa adalah kadar serat 0.3%.
