Abstract

Soil is an important part of construction work, both buildings and road pavements. The content of subgrade soil contains a lot of expansive clay minerals which due to volume changes in water content can cause damage to the road pavement. Such cases require soil stabilization efforts to improve soil conditions to meet road pavement requirements. One of them is using chemical stabilization using added material from marble waste. This study aims to determine the classification of soil based on the USCS classification system and to determine the effect of marble waste on the physical properties of curing. Soil samples were taken from Jalan Masjid Priyayi Village, Kasemen District, Serang City. Variations in the addition of marble powder waste were 0%, 7%, 17%, and 27% with curing times of 0 days, 7 days, 14 days, and 28 days. Soil testing carried out includes sieving analysis tests, soil-specific gravity, soil bulk density, water content, and atterberg limit. From the research results, it was obtained that the soil classification was included in the OH type according to the USCS classification system, along with the increase in the percentage of marble waste and the curing time there was a change in the type of soil obtained. The values for water content, specific gravity, and liquid limit decreased while the values for sieving, bulk density, and plastic limit increased. This is due to the increase in the percentage of marble waste and the length of curing time. From the values of the liquid limit and plastic limit, it is also known that the value of the plasticity index decreases with each percentage and the length of ripening time. The plasticity index value with the percentage of marble waste of 7% and the curing time of 28 days is known to be 13.86% fulfilling the standard requirements of the plasticity index value as soil subgrade.

Additional Information: Tanah merupakan bagian penting dalam pekerjaan konstruksi baik itu bangunan maupun perkerasan jalan. Kandungan tanah dasar yang banyak mengandung mineral lempung yang bersifat ekspansif yang dikarenakan perubahan volume kadar air dapat menyebabkan kerusakan pada perkerasan jalan. Kasus seperti itu memerlukan upaya stabilisasi tanah untuk memperbaiki kondisi tanah agar memenuhi persyaratan perkerasan jalan. Salah satunya dengan cara stabilisasi kimia menggunakan bahan tambah limbah marmer. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui klasifikasi tanah berdasarkan sistem klasifikasi USCS serta guna mengetahui pengaruh limbah marmer terhadap sifat fisik pemeraman. Sampel tanah diambil dari Jalan Desa Masjid Priyayi, Kecamatan Kasemen, Kota Serang. Variasi penambahan limbah serbuk marmer sebanyak 0%, 7%, 17%, dan 27% dengan waktu pemeraman selama 0 hari, 7 hari, 14 hari, dan 28 hari. Untuk pengujian tanah yang dilakukan meliputi uji analisa saringan, berat jenis tanah, berat isi tanah, kadar air dan atterberg limit. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh klasifikasi tanah termasuk ke dalam jenis OH menurut sistem klasifikasi USCS, seiring dengan bertambahnya persentase limbah marmer dan waktu pemeraman terjadi perubahan pada jenis tanah yang diperoleh. Nilai kadar air, berat jenis dan batas cair menurun sedangkan nilai analisa saringan, berat isi dan batas plastis meningkat. Hal tersebut dikarenakan bertambahnya persentase limbah marmer dan lama waktu pemeraman. Dari nilai batas cair dan batas plastis pula diketahui nilai indeks plastisitas yang menurun dari tiap persentase dan lama waktu pemeramannya. Nilai indeks plastisitas dengan persentase limbah marmer 7% dan waktu pemeraman 28 hari diketahui sebesar 13,86% memenuhi syarat standar nilai indeks plastisitas sebagai tanah subgrade.
