Abstract

Critical thinking skill is a skill that must be owned by someone to face the competition of the 21st century. Education has an important contribution to developing human resources who master critical thinking skills. Problem Based Learning is a learning model that can support students in developing critical thinking skills, because in its activities it focuses on helping students develop their own knowledge. In addition, the buffer solution material allows learning activities to develop critical thinking skills. This study aims to determine the increase in students' critical thinking skills in applying the problem based learning model to buffer solution material. This type of research is quantitative using the One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The sample in this study were 35 students of class XI IPA SMA Negeri 8 Kota Serang with purposive sampling. The research instruments used included lesson plans, worksheets, test questions, observation sheets, and student response questionnaires. The data analysis technique was carried out descriptively using n-gain and the statistical analysis used was the paired sample t-test. The results of the n-gain calculation show that there is an increase in 5 indicators of critical thinking skills with medium and high criteria. These results are supported by the results of the calculation of the paired sample t-test which obtained a significance value of 0.00 and showed a significance value of <0.05, so that H0 was rejected, meaning that there were differences in students' science process skills between before and after the problem based learning model was applied. on the buffer solution.

Additional Information: Keterampilan berpikir kritis merupakan suatu keterampilan yang harus dimiliki seseorang untuk menghadapi persaingan abad 21. Pendidikan memiliki kontribusi penting untuk mengembangkan sumber daya manusia yang menguasai keterampilan berpikir kritis. Problem Based Learning merupakan salah satu model pembelajaran yang bisa mendukung siswa dalam mengembangkan keterampilan berpikir kritis, karena didalam kegiatannya memfokuskan untuk membantu siswa mengembangkan pengetahuannya sendiri. Selain itu, materi larutan penyangga memungkinkan kegiatan pembelajarannya dapat mengembangkan keterampilan berpikir ktitis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan keterampilan berpikir siswa pada penerapan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning pada materi larutan penyangga. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan menggunakan desain penelitian One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Sampel pada penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas XI IPA SMA Negeri 8 Kota Serang sebanyak 35 orang dengan pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan antara lain RPP, LKPD, soal tes, lembar observasi, dan angket respon siswa. Teknik analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif menggunakan n-gain dan analisis statistik yang digunakan yaitu uji paired sample t-test. Hasil perhitungan n-gain memperlihatkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan 5 indikator keterampilan berpikir kritis dengan kriteria sedang dan tinggi. Hasil tersebut didukung dengan hasil perhitungan uji paired sample t-test yang memperoleh nilai siginifikansi 0,00 dan menunjukkan nilai signifikansi <0,05, sehingga H0 ditolak, artinya terdapat perbedaan keterampilan proses sains peserta didik antara sebelum dan sesudah diterapkan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning pada materi larutan penyangga.
