Abstract

The theme and direction of the 2013 curriculum development is to create a generation that is ready to compete and follow the demands of the times that continue to grow, so that the learning process in schools should focus on students' skills in solving real-world problems. The learning method used is still ineffective, and teaching materials have not emphasized students' problem-solving abilities. Another problem that occurs is that with many limited learning resources, making the motivation of students reduced in following the learning process. The purpose of this study is to overcome these problems, by developing chemistry e-Modules based on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) approaches on hydrocarbon topics, knowing the feasibility of e-Modules, and knowing student responses to the e-Modules. This research is an R&D (Research and Development) research, using the ADDIE model which consists of the stages of analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate. This research resulted in a chemistry e-module based on a STEM approach that was declared valid and feasible with a feasibility percentage value of 89% for the material aspect and 91% for the media aspect. The E-Module was then tested on 30 students of grade XI MIPA and resulted in an average percentage of student responses to the e-Module of 85.27% and in the very good category. Thus, e-Modules based on STEM approaches on hydrocarbon topics can be used as teaching materials in learning.

Additional Information: Tema dan arahan pengembangan kurikulum 2013 adalah menciptakan generasi yang siap bersaing dan mengikuti tuntutan zaman yang terus berkembang, sehingga proses pembelajaran di sekolah harusnya berfokus pada keterampilan siswa dalam memecahkan masalah dunia nyata. Metode belajar yang digunakan masih kurang efektif, dan bahan ajar belum menekankan kemampuan siswa dalam pemecahan masalah. Permasalahan lain yang terjadi yaitu dengan banyaknya keterbatasan sumber belajar, menjadikan motivasi yang dimiliki siswa berkurang dalam mengikuti proses pembelajaran. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, dengan mengembangkan e-Modul kimia berbasis pendekatan STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) pada topik hidrokarbon, mengetahui kelayakan e-Modul, dan mengetahui respon siswa terhadap e-Modul tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian R&D (Research and Development), dengan menggunakan model ADDIE yang terdiri atas tahap analyze, design, develop, implement, dan evaluate. Penelitian ini menghasilkan e-Modul kimia berbasis pendekatan STEM yang dinyatakan valid dan layak dengan nilai persentase kelayakan sebesar 89% untuk aspek materi dan 91% untuk aspek media. E-Modul kemudian diuji coba kepada 30 orang siswa kelas XI MIPA dan menghasilkan rata-rata persentase respon siswa terhadap e-Modul sebesar 85,27% dan dalam kategori sangat baik. Dengan demikian, e-Modul berbasis pendekatan STEM pada topik hidrokarbon dapat digunakan sebagai bahan ajar dalam pembelajaran.
