Abstract

The concept of science material is abstract so that it requires a contextual learning process in order to foster students' cognitive abilities. Efforts that can be made are conducting learning with student-oriented models and approaches, also applying assessments that are able to measure the level of ability as a whole, such as applying diagnostic assessments at the HOTS level. The purpose of this research was to determine the validity and readability of the HOTS test instrument based on three-tier multiple choice (3TMC) on the theme of maintaining blood pressure for Grade VIII students. This development research refers to the Thiagarajan model with the Four-D Model procedure which consists of 3 stages: define, design, and develop. Expert subjects and readability tests in this research were 2 lecturers as material experts, 2 lecturers as evaluation experts, 3 practitioners, and 30 class VIII junior high school students. Data was collected using interview sheets, validation sheets, and readability questionnaires to determine the validator's and students' assessment of the developed test instrument. The results of the validity of the test instrument obtained an average percentage of 92.1% in the very valid category so that the 3TMC-based HOTS test instrument can be used as an evaluation tool. After the product was revised, the problem reduction was carried out which obtained a readability percentage of 86.5% in the very good category so that the test product made contained understandable material, was presented in an interesting way, work instructions could be understood, and the item items had been written using language that easy to understand according to PUEBI, and the presentation of letters, tables and pictures is appropriate.

Additional Information: Konsep materi IPA bersifat abstrak sehingga membutuhkan proses pembelajaran kontekstual agar menumbuhkan kemampuan kognitif siswa. Upaya yang dapat dilakukan yaitu melakukan pembelajaran dengan model dan pendekatan yang berorientasi kepada siswa, juga menerapkan penilaian yang mampu mengukur tingkat kemampuan secara utuh, seperti menerapkan penilaian diagnostik pada taraf HOTS. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tingkat validitas dan keterbacaan instrumen tes HOTS berbasis three-tier multiple choice (3TMC) tema menjaga tekanan darah untuk siswa kelas VIII. Penelitian pengembangan ini mengacu pada model Thiagarajan dengan prosedur Four-D Model yang terdiri dari 3 tahapan yaitu: define, design, dan develop. Subjek ahli dan uji keterbacaan pada penelitian ini yaitu 2 dosen sebagai ahli materi, 2 dosen sebagai ahli evaluasi, 3 praktisi, dan 30 siswa SMP kelas VIII. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan lembar wawancara, lembar validasi, dan angket keterbacaan untuk mengetahui penilaian validator dan siswa terhadap instrumen tes yang dikembangkan. Hasil validitas instrumen tes memperoleh rata-rata persentase sebesar 92,1% berkategori sangat valid sehingga instrumen tes HOTS berbasis 3TMC dapat digunakan sebagai alat evaluasi. Setelah produk di revisi, maka dilakukan reduksi soal yang memperoleh persentase keterbacaan sebesar 86,5% berkategori sangat baik sehingga produk tes yang dibuat telah memuat materi yang dapat dipahami, disajikan secara menarik, petunjuk pengerjaan dapat dipahami, dan butir soal sudah dituliskan menggunakan bahasa yang mudah dipahami sesuai PUEBI, serta sajian huruf, tabel, dan gambar telah sesuai.
