Abstract
The purpose of this study was to describe and analyze the understanding of mathematical concepts of low, medium and high ability junior high school students from the perspective of APOS theory on rectangular material. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of this study were students of class VIII-B of SMP Negeri 18 Serang City, totaling 20 students and each student selected at each level of ability was selected, namely students with low, medium and high abilities. Data collection techniques used are tests, interviews and documentation. Analysis of the data in this tuding using the analysis of Miles and Huberman, namely data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusion. Test the validity of the data in this study using triangulation techniques. The results showed that the low-ability students only met the indicators of understanding mathematical concepts at the action stage. While the medium-ability students met the indicators of understanding mathematical cincets at the action, process and object stages. In contrast to high-ability students who can fulfill the indicators of understanding mathematical concepts at the stage of action, process, object and schema. In other words, high-ability student can reach all stages of APOS.

| Additional Information: | Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis pemahaman konsep matematis siswa SMP berkemampuan rendah, sedang dan tinggi dari perspektif teori APOS pada materi segi empat. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas VIII-B SMP Negeri 18 Kota Serang yang berjumlah 20 siswa dan dipilih masing-masing siswa ditiap tingkatan kemampuan yaitu seorang siswa bekemampuan rendah, sedang dan tinggi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah tes, wawancara serta dokumentasi. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan analisis Miles dan Huberman yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Uji keabsahan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan triangulasi teknik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa berkemampuan rendah hanya memenuhi indikator pemahaman konsep matematis pada tahap aksi. Pada siswa berkemampuan sedang memenuhi indikator pemahaman konsep matematis pada tahap aksi, proses dan objek. Berbeda dengan siswa berkemampuan tinggi yang dapat memenuhi indikator pemahaman konsep matematis pada tahap aksi, proses, objek dan skema. Dengan kata lain, siswa berkemampuan tinggi dapat mencapai semua tahap APOS. | |||||||||
