Abstract
Conceptual understanding has an influence on the continuity of learning as well as with motivation. The influence of understanding of concepts and motivations will also apply equally to the world of education. However, in the preliminary study, the preliminary study shows that students' understanding and learning motivation is still low. Weak ability to understand the concept and motivation of student learning can be caused by the learning process that is implemented. That's what makes researchers interested in raising the issue. One of the alternatives used is applying Pairs Check learning model. This study aims to determine the concept of the ability to understand the concept and motivation of students learning a class that is applied Pairs Check learning. The type of research used in this research is quantitative research with description. The Description is a way to describe the results of the questionnaire motivation to learn. Population in this research is all student of class X in SMAN 4 city of Serang. In this research, the sample is taken as many as two classes. One class as the experimental class is class X IPS 3 and one class again as control class that is class X IPS 2. Instruments used in this research in the form of a test of the ability of comprehension mathematical concept, questionnaire motivation to learn, and documentation. The results showed that the final achievement of the ability to understanding the concept of the experimental class obtained the average class 25.11 while the class control class average 20.96. This shows that applying Pairs Check is better than ordinary learning. Based on the questionnaire of motivation to learn, Pairs Check learning can foster motivation to study students of class X IPS 3. This can be seen from the results of the questionnaire in general learning motivation students achieve good results / strong.

| Additional Information: | Pemahaman konsep mempunyai pengaruh bagi kelangsungan pembelajaran begitupun dengan motivasi. Pengaruh pemahaman konsep dan motivasi juga akan berlaku sama untuk dunia pendidikan. Namun dalam studi pendahuluan, hasil studi pendahuluan menunjukan pemahaman konsep dan motivasi belajar siswa masih rendah. Lemahnya kemampuan pemahaman konsep dan motivasi belajar siswa dapat disebabkan oleh proses pembelajaran yang dilaksanakan. Hal itulah yang membuat peneliti tertarik untuk mengangkat permasalahan tersebut. Salah satu alternatif yang digunakan yaitu menerapkan model pembelajaran Pairs Check. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran kemampuan pemahaman konsep dan motivasi belajar siswa suatu kelas yang diterapkan pembelajaran Pairs Check. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu penelitian kuantitatif dilengkapi dengan deskripsi. Deskripsi yaitu cara untuk memaparkan hasil dari angket motivasi belajar. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X di SMAN 4 kota Serang. Dalam penelitian ini diambil sampel sebanyak dua kelas. Satu kelas sebagai kelas eksperimen yaitu kelas X IPS 3 dan satu kelas lagi sebagai kelas kontrol yaitu kelas X IPS 2. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa lembar tes kemampuan pemahaman konsep, angket motivasi belajar, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pencapaian akhir kemampuan pemahaman konsep kelas eksperimen didapat rata-rata kelasnya 25,11 sedangkan kelas kontrol rata-rata kelasnya 20,96. Hal ini menunjukan bahwa penerapan Pairs Check lebih baik dari pada pembelajaran biasa. Berdasarkan angket motivasi belajar, pembelajaran Pairs Check dapat menumbuhkan motivasi belajar siswa kelas X IPS 3. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari hasil angket secara umum motivasi belajar siswa mencapai hasil baik/kuat. | |||||||||
