Abstract
This research is intended to describe and analyze students' mathematical communication skills in the material of the two variable linear equations in terms of student motivation based on Maslow's theory. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative. The instrument in this study used test instruments in the form of written tests, non -test instruments in the form of learning motivation questionnaires based on Maslow's theory, and interview guidelines. The data collection technique used is a written test on the material of the two -variabel linear equation system, non -test instruments in the form of questionnaires, and semi -structured interviews. The subjects of this study were students of class VIII I of SMP Negeri 1 Ciruas and samples were taken as many as six students based on purposive sampling. Data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data visualization and drawing conclusions. The results of this study concluded that students who meet all aspects of the Maslow's theory hierarchy have higher learning motivation, this can be seen from the different ways to answer questions. Students who meet all aspects of the Maslow's theory hierarchy are trying to answer as detailed as possible so that the answer is clear, while students who only meet some aspects of the Maslow's theory hierarchy answer the questions with modesty without a more detailed explanation.

Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa pada materi persamaan linear dua variabel yang ditinjau dari motivasi belajar siswa berdasarkan teori Maslow. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu deskriptif kualitatif. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen tes berupa tes tertulis, instrumen non tes berupa angket motivasi belajar yang didasarkan dari teori Maslow, dan pedoman wawancara. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah tes tertulis mengenai materi sistem persamaan linear dua variabel, instrumen non tes berupa kuesioner, dan wawancara semi terstruktur. Subjek penelitian ini yakni siswa kelas VIII I SMP Negeri 1 Ciruas dan diambil sampel sebanyak enam siswa berdasarkan Purposive Sampling. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yakni reduksi data, visualisasi data serta penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa siswa yang memenuhi seluruh aspek hierarki teori Maslow memiliki motivasi belajar yang lebih tinggi, hal ini terlihat dari perbedaan cara menjawab soal. Siswa yang memenuhi seluruh aspek hierarki teori Maslow berusaha menjawab sedetail mungkin agar jawabannya jelas, sedangkan siswa yang hanya memenuhi sebagian aspek hierarki teori Maslow menjawab soal dengan seadanya tanpa penjelasan lebih mendetail. | |||||||||
