Abstract

The increase in the use of electronic devices causes a high amount of electronic waste, one of which is printed circuit board (PCB) electronic waste. The PCB contains several valuable metals such as copper and silver which can be used as secondary resources. Today, electronic waste PCB FR-2 is starting to be in demand for urban mining processes. One of the general stages carried out in the urban mining process of PCB FR-2 waste is physical treatment such as dismantling, comminution, and concentration processes. One of the concentration processes carried out is the magnetic separation method with a davis tube. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of variations in size and magnetic intensity on levels and recovery of copper and silver metals in FR-2 PCB waste. The magnetic concentration process was carried out with variations in size -63+100#;-100+150#;- 150# and variations in magnetic intensity of 1000 G;2000 G;3000 G. The results showed that the effective size for separating copper and silver metals is -63+150# and -150#. On the other hand, the effective magnetic intensity is 1000 G, resulting in copper and silver content of 45.66% and 0.162% respectively with recoveries of 80.135% and 62.505%.

Additional Information: Peningkatan jumlah penggunaan alat elektronik menyebabkan tingginya jumlah limbah elektronik, salah satunya adalah limbah elektronik printed circuit board (PCB). Pada PCB terkandung beberapa logam yang masih berharga seperti tembaga dan perak yang dapat dijadikan sebagai secondary resource. Dewasa kini, limbah elektronik PCB FR-2 mulai diminati untuk dilakukan proses urban mining. Salah satu tahapan umum yang dilakukan dalam proses urban mining limbah PCB FR-2 adalah physical treatment seperti dismantling, kominusi, dan proses konsentrasi. Salah satu proses konsentrasi yang dilakukan adalah metode magnetic separation dengan alat davis tube. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi ukuran dan intensitas magnet terhadap kadar serta recovery logam tembaga dan perak pada limbah PCB FR-2. Proses konsentrasi magnetik dilakukan dengan variasi ukuran -63+100#;-100+150#;-150# dan variasi intensitas magnet sebesar 1000 G;2000 G;3000 G. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ukuran yang efektif untuk memisahkan logam tembaga dan perak adalah -63+150# dan -150#. Di sisi lain, besar intensitas magnet yang efektif adalah 1000 G, sehingga didapatkan kadar logam tembaga dan perak masing-masing sebesar 45,66% dan 0,162% dengan recovery sebesar 80,135% dan 62,505%.
