Abstract

Code-switching is a sociolinguistic phenomenon that many people do. This phenomenon is also commonly found in the educational environment, especially bilingual education. Therefore, this study was made to analyze this phenomenon in the school environment, especially in inclusive schools. This study aimed to investigate the use of teacher code- switching in the classroom and to analyze the perceptions of students with special needs towardteacher code- switching. The place of this research was Mutiara Bunda Junior High School which is located in Cilegon City. The classes that were observed to investigate the teacher's code-switching were grades seven to nine, and the respondents to fill the questionnaire were student perceptions were 23 students with special needs from grade seven to grade nine. This research used the case study method. Data analysis techniques used in this study were observation and questionnaires. The results of the observations in this study were found the useof code-switching by teachers when the teaching and learning process of English lessons. Besides that, the teacher‟s code-switching was mostly used when delivering material and learning concepts. In addition, the results of the questionnaire that have been analyzed are students with special needs gave a positive response to the use of their teacher's code-switchingin the classroom. They prefer to learn to use code-switching because they feel that the delivery of the material is easier to understand. Keywords: Code-switching, Inclusive School, Perception.

Additional Information: Alih Kode adalah fenomena sosiolinguistik yang dilakukan oleh banyak orang. Fenomena tersebut juga banyak ditemukan dilingkungan pendidikan, khususnya pendidikan bilingual. Maka dari itu, penelitian ini dibuat untuk menganalisis fenomena tersebut dilingkungan sekolah, khususnya pada sekolah inklusi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menginvestigasi seperti apa penggunaan alih kode guru dikelas serta untuk menganalisis persepsi siswa berkebutuhan khusus terhadap alih kode guru. Tempat penelitian ini ialah di SMP Mutiara Bunda yang berlokasi di Kota Cilegon. Kelas yang di observasi untuk menginvestigasi code switching guru ialah kelas tujuh sampai sembilan dan responden untuk menganalisis persepsi siswa adalah 23 siswa berkebutuhan khusus dari kelas tujuh sampai kelas sembilan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi kasus. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini ialah observasi dan kuesioner. Hasil dari observasi pada penelitian ini ialah ditemukan penggunaan code switching oleh guru ketika proses belajar mengajar pada pelajaran Bahasa inggris. Selain itu, penggunaan code switching guru lebih banyak digunakan pada saat penyampaian materi dan konsep pembelajatan. Selanjutnya, hasil dari kuesioner yang telah di analisis ialah siswa berkebutuhan khusus memberikan respon positif terhadap penggunaan alih kode guru mereka di kelas. Mereka lebih menyukai belajar menggunakan alih kode karena merasa penyampaian materi lebih mudah untuk dipahami. Kata Kunci : Alih Kode, Persepsi, Sekolah Inklusif.
