Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of teacher creativity in creating and using instructional media and the low scientific literacy culture of students which is influenced by many things, one of which is learning media that is not yet supportive. Magazine learning media related to science is reading material that is included in facilities to support a scientific literacy culture. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of validity and attractiveness of students towards MADIPA (Digital Science Magazine) based on contextual learning to foster scientific literacy of junior high school students on the theme My river is polluted. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate) and is limited to limited trials. The validation assessment was carried out by material experts, media experts, and practitioner experts. While the attractiveness assessment was carried out by students using a student response questionnaire. As a whole, from the experts, the developed MADIPA has a validity level of 88.4% with a very valid category. At the level of attractiveness, MADIPA obtained a score of 3.48 with a very good/attractive category with a maximum score of 4. Based on the research, it can be concluded that the development of contextual learning-based MADIPA (Digital Science Magazine) can foster scientific literacy in junior high school students on the theme My river is polluted.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya kreativitas guru dalam menciptakan dan menggunakan media pembelajaran serta rendahnya budaya literasi sains siswa yang dipengaruhi oleh banyak hal, salah satunya media pembelajaran yang belum mendukung. Media pembelajaran majalah yang berkaitan dengan sains merupakan bahan bacaan yang termasuk dalam fasilitas untuk mendukung budaya literasi sains. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tingkat kevalidan dan daya tarik siswa terhadap MADIPA (Majalah Digital IPA) berbasis contextual learning untuk menumbuhkan literasi sains siswa SMP pada tema sungaiku tercemar. Metode yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan model ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Develop, Implement, dan Evaluate) dan dibatasi sampai uji coba terbatas. Penilaian validasi dilakukan oleh ahli materi, ahli media, dan ahli praktisi. Sedangkan penilaian daya tarik dilakukan oleh siswa menggunakan angket respon siswa. Ditinjau secara keseluruhan dari para ahli, MADIPA yang dikembangkan mendapatkan tingkat kevalidan dengan presentase 88,4% dengan kategori sangat valid. Pada tingkat daya tarik MADIPA memperoleh skor sebesar 3,48 dengan kategori sangat baik/menarik dari skor maksimun 4. Berdasarkan penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengembangan MADIPA (Majalah Digital IPA) berbasis contextual learning dapat menumbuhkan literasi sains siswa SMP pada tema sungaiku tercemar.
