Abstract
This study aims to determine and analyze the application of big book media on the ability of conceptual understanding in the subjects of social studies academic year 2016/2017. The research method used is quasi experimental with Nonequivalent Control Group Design research design. The sampling technique used is cluster sampling to select 2 classes. In this research, VA class as experiment class using big book media and VB class as control class using simple media. The results obtained from the inferential test of the hypothesis. Based on the pretest data processing obtained the average value of experimental class = 50.5 and control class 28.4. From the results of different test values of both classes at significant level = 0.05 obtained tcount = 4.93 and ttable = 1.67. So it can be concluded learners' learning outcomes before using the big book media is to be better. After the lesson, both classes are given postes.

| Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis penerapan media big book terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep pada mata pelajaran IPS tahun ajaran 2016/2017. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Teknik penarikan sampel yang digunakan ialah cluster sampling untuk memilih 2 kelas. Pada penelitian ini, kelas VA sebagai kelas eksperimen menggunakan media big book dan kelas VB sebagai kelas kontrol menggunakan media sederhana. Hasil penelitian diperoleh dari uji inferensial terhadap hipotesis. Berdasarkan pengolahan data pretes diperoleh nilai rata-rata kelas ekperimen = 50,5 dan kelas kontrol 28,4. Dari hasil uji beda nilai kedua kelas pada taraf signifikan = 0,05 diperoleh thitung = 4,93 dan ttabel = 1,67. Maka dapat disimpulkan hasil belajar peserta didik sebelum menggunakan media big book adalah menjadi lebih baik. Setelah pembelajaran, kedua kelas diberikan postes. | |||||||||
