Abstract

ANALISA PERBANDINGAN KEKUATAN DAN KEEKONOMISAN BEJANA TEKAN DENGAN CLAD MATERIAL CARBON STEEL SA-516 Gr.70 + STAINLESS STEEL 316 DAN BAHAN SOLID STAINLESS STEEL SA-240 Gr.316 Apriadi Bunga, Aswata, Erwin Jurusan Teknik Mesin, Fakultas Teknik, Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa ABSTRACT Pressure Vessel equipment functioned as storing or as an equipment where the operational process take place, where sometimes involving corrosive fluid in its normal operation. Thus, material selection in designing pressure vessel is very important. For pressure vessel in high corrosive environment, using the carbon steel is sometime impossible, thus selection of material will goes to Austenitic Stainless Steel or Clad. The aim of this report is to compare two different materials which were SA-516 Gr.70 with 316 S.S Clad and a solid Stainless Steel SA-240 Gr. 316. The comparison taken on their mechanical strength during hydrostatic test and its economical where total price in fabricating both materials was compared. From the analysis, it was observed that required thickness of Solid Stainless steel is thinner where lead to a lighter weight compared to clad material. However, a solid stainless steel material has a less strength against hydrostatic pressure where margin stress very closed to allowable stress. And by the current price and market condition, using a clad plate will result a more competitive price compared of using solid stainless steel.
