Abstract

The clean water is one of the basic human needs that should not be lacking even until it runs out. However, available water sources are often contaminated with chemical waste and other impurities. Due to the decline in water quality, we must carry out a process to separate water from harmful substances in order to get clean water that is suitable for use and consumption by humans. There are several ways to purify water, one of which is the solar distillation method. Solar water distillation is a water purifier whose working principle occurs in the process of evaporation, condensation, and heat transfer and produces clean water. The acrylic cover material with a thickness of 4 mm, and glass with a thickness of 4 mm, 5 mm, and 8 mm were chosen in this study. From the selection of different materials and material thickness, it was found that it affects the heat transfer rate and water temperature. The results of this study are best found in the 4 mm glass variation with an average efficiency of 51.79% and an average daily distillate water productivity of 725 mL. 3. Based on PERMENKES RI number 32 of 2017, the distillate water in this experiment is clean water category.

Additional Information: Air bersih merupakan salah satu kebutuhan pokok manusia yang tidak boleh kurang bahkan sampai habis. Namun sumber air yang tersedia, sering kali sudah terkontaminasi dengan limbah kimia dan zat pengotor lainnya. Akibat menurunnya kualitas air, maka kita harus melakukan suatu proses untuk memisahkan air dengan zat-zat berbahaya agar mendapatkan air yang bersih dan layak digunakan dan dikonsumsi oleh manusia. Ada beberapa cara untuk menjernihkan air, salah satunya adalah dengan metode distilasi tenaga surya. Destilasi air tenaga surya merupakan alat penjernih air yang prinsip kerjanya terjadi proses penguapan, pengembunan, dan perpindahan panas lalu menghasilkan air bersih. Material penutup berbahan akrilik dengan tebal 4 mm, dan kaca dengan tebal 4 mm, 5 mm, dan 8 mm dipilih pada penelitian ini. Dari pemilihan material dan tebal material yang berbeda ditemukan bahwa hal tersebut mempengaruhi laju perpindahan panas dan suhu air. Hasil penelitian ini paling baik terdapat pada variasi kaca 4 mm dengan rata-rata efisiensi sebesar 51,79% dan hasil rata-rata produktivitas air destilat per harinya sebesar 725 mL. 3. Berdasarkan PERMENKES RI nomor 32 tahun 2017, air hasil destilat pada pengujian ini dapat dikatakan sebagai air bersih.
