Abstract

This study has two objectives, the first aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning model on the critical thinking skills of students in class XI IPS, and the second aims to determine the increase in critical thinking skills of students in class XI IPS MAN 4 Pandeglang by using the Problem Based Learning model, especially in material on the Japanese Occupation and the Response of the Indonesian Nation. Class XI IPS 1 as an Experimental Class using the Problem Based Learning model and Class XI IPS 2 as a control class using the Discovery Learning model. The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental method. Based on the results of the study that there was an influence on students' critical thinking skills using a one-sided t-test, namely 2.07 > 1.67, then H0 was rejected and Hα was accepted. So it can be concluded that there is an effect of using the Problem Based Learning model on students' critical thinking skills, and the critical thinking skills of students who use the Problem Based Learning model in the experimental class have higher results compared to the critical thinking skills of students who use the Discovery Learning model in the control class. This can be seen from the average student results in the Posttest stage of the Experiment class at 83.80 and the average score of students in the control class is 49.11.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini memiliki dua tujuan, yang pertama bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model Problem Based Learning terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas XI IPS, dan yang kedua bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas XI IPS MAN 4 Pandeglang dengan menggunakan model Problem Based Learning khususnya pada materi Pendudukan Jepang dan Respon Bangsa Indonesia. Kelas XI IPS 1 Sebagai Kelas Eksperimen dengan menggunakan model Problem Based Learning dan Kelas XI IPS 2 sebagai kelas kontrol dengan menggunakan model Discovery Learning. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode quasi eksperimen. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian bahwa terdapat pengaruh kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa menggunakan uji-t satu pihak yaitu 2,07 > 1,67 maka H_0 ditolak dan H_a diterima. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh penggunaan model Problem Based Learning terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa, dan Kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa yang menggunakan model Problem Based Learning pada kelas eksperimen hasilnya lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa yang menggunakan menggunakan model Discovery Learning pada kelas kontrol, hal ini dapat dilihat dari hasil rata-rata siswa pada tahap Postest kelas Eksperimen sebesar 83,80 dan nilai rata-rata siswa pada kelas kontrol sebesar 49,11
