Abstract
ABSTRACT AN ANALYSIS OF TEACHING ENGLISH READING COMPREHENSION BY USING SCAFFOLDING AT THE EIGHTH GRADE STUDENT OF SMPN 10 KOTA SERANG By: Ahmad Zaki Munibi NIM: 2223101153 The objectives of the research were to know the process of teaching English reading comprehension by using scaffolding and the students and teachers’ responses toward scaffolding in learning reading comprehension at eighth grade student of SMPN 10 Kota Serang. In this case, the researcher used the qualitative research as the method of this research exactly a case study research. A researcher used multiple sources of information to gather data which include: observation, documentation, interview, and questionnaire. Observation was conducted to know the process of teaching English reading comprehension by using scaffolding. Interview was conducted to know teachers’ response toward scaffolding in learning reading comprehension. Questionnaires were given to students to know students’ responses toward scaffolding in learning reading comprehension. Therefore, documentation was also conducted on every activities collecting data by the researcher. Based on the research result and discussion of the research, the researcher concluded that in SMPN 10 Kota Serang related teaching English reading comprehension by using scaffoding was useful strategy to be conducted in the school. The data showed that process of using scaffolding strategy was well done and managed by the teacher. Therefore, teachers’ response toward scaffolding in learning reading comprehension could figure it out better the learning materials and training cooperation between the students so that students could understand better guiding each other was true. It can be seen on the result of questionnaires given to students that had shown students’ response toward scaffoding in learning reading comprehension was great.
