Abstract
The purpose of this study was to find out how to influence the use of the approach Natural Exploration Around (JAS) to cognitive abilities in class VII students at SMPN 8 Kota Serang on the concept of classification of living things. Which method used is descriptive using One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. This research was conducted in the 2018/2019 school year semester 1. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with class VII B as an experimental class. Number of students in the class VII B, as many as 30 students were used as the experimental class. The instrument used in this study was a cognitive ability test with a total of 6 description questions and uses 4 indicators of the approach Natural Exploration Around (JAS), phase, interaction, communication and reflection. The results obtained from this study were the Natural Exploration Around (JAS) approach of grade VII students at SMPN 8 Kota Serang which had a good and significant effect on the cognitive abilities of grade VII students at SMPN 8 Kota Serang. The influence of the Natural Exploration Around (JAS) on the cognitive abilities of students of class VII SMPN 8 Kota Serang can be seen from the increase in learning outcomes before and after the implementation of learning. The increase in students cognitive abilities occurs through the phases contained in the Natural Exploration Around (JAS) and is carried out during the research process. This is evidenced by the increase in the average score of cognitive abilities from pretest to posttest. During the pretest, the students 'average score was only 48, while at the posttest the students' average score increased to 81 which means that they have entered the good category. Then for the results of observations using the Natural Exploration Around (JAS) obtained an average percentage of 87.5%. In addition, when researchers do a question and answer before the learning ends, students can answer well. Then for the results of observations using the approach Natural Exploration Around (JAS) obtained an average percentage of 87,5%. Based on the results of this research, it can be that students better understand science lessons especially the material taught is the classification of living things. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif dengan menggunakan dengan One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada tahun ajaran 2018/2019 semester 1. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling dengan kelas VII B sebagai kelas eksperimen. Jumlah siswa pada kelas VII B yang digunakan sebagai kelas eksperimen adalah sebanyak 30 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah tes kemampuan kognitif dengan jumlah 6 soal uraian dan menggunakan 4 indikator pendekatan Jelajah Alam Sekitar (JAS) yaitu fase eksplorasi, interaksi, komunikasi dan refleksi. Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini adalah pendekatan Jelajah Alam Sekitar (JAS) siswa kelas VII di SMPN 8 Kota Serang memiliki pengaruh yang baik dan signifikan terhadap kemampuan kognitif siswa kelas VII di SMPN 8 Kota Serang. Pengaruh pendekatan Jelajah Alam Sekitar (JAS) terhadap kemampuan kognitif siswa kelas VII SMPN 8 Kota Serang dapat dilihat dari meningkatnya hasil pembelajaran sebelum dan sesudah pelaksanaan pembelajaran. Peningkatan kemampuan kognitif siswa terjadi melalui fase-fase yang terdapat di dalam pendekatan Jelajah Alam Sekitar (JAS) dan dilakukan di saat proses penelitian. Hal ini dibuktikan dari peningkatan nilai rata-rata kemampuan kognitif dari pretest ke posttest. Saat pretest nilai rata-rata siswa hanya sebesar 48, sedangkan saat posttest nilai rata – rata siswa meningkat menjadi 81 yang berarti telah masuk ke dalam kategori baik. Kemudian untuk hasil observasi penggunaan pendekatan Jelajah Alam Sekitar (JAS) diperoleh persentase rata – rata sebesar 87,5%. Selain itu saat peneliti melakukan tanya jawab sebelum pembelajarn berakhir siswa dapat menjawab dengan baik.
