Abstract
The research was aimed to know effect of water immersion with different initial temperatures and duration of immersion in H2SO4 on the viability of tree saga seeds (Adenanthera pavonina L.). This research was contucted from July until September 2020 at the Integrated Agricultural System Area. The research was used randomized completely design (RCD) with two factors. The first factor was immersion with different initial temperatures consisted of three levels, namely S1 (immersion with an initial temperature of 40oC), S2 (immersion with an initial temperature of 60oC), S3 (immersion with an initial temperature of 80oC). The second factor was the duration of immersion in H2SO4 which consisted of three levels, namely P1 (10 minutes of immersion), P2 (30 minutes of immersion), P3 (50 minutes of immersion). There were seven parameters observed, namely germination time (days), maximum growth potential (%), percentage of germination (%), growth speed (% per day), percentage of normal germination (%), and percentage of abnormal germination (%) and percentase seeds did not grow (%). The results soaking water with an initial temperature of 60oC tends to showed better results on the parameters of maximum growth potential (87.78%), percentage of germination (76.67%), growth speed (1.11%/day) and percentage of normal germination (66.67%). H2SO4 soaking time for 30 minutes tends to showed better results on the parameters of germination time (9.00 day), maximum growth potential (86.67%), percentage of germination (71.67%) and percentage of normal germination (61.67%). There was no interaction between water immersion treatment with different initial temperatures and H2SO4 immersion time on the viability of saga tree seeds (Adenanthera pavonina L.) Additional Information: | Saga merupakan tanaman hutan yang berasal dari family fabaceae yang berasal dari Australia dan filipina. Benih saga merupakan benih yang memiliki masa dormansi yang cukup lama. Dormansi benih disebabkan karena saga memiliki kulit biji yang keras serta dilapisi oleh lapisan lilin yang dapat menghalangi masuknya air pada proses perkecambahan sehingga diperlukan perlakuan pendahuluan sebelum benih ditanam. Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan pada bulan Juli - September 2020 yang bertempat di kawasan sistem pertanian terpadu (Sitandu). Pada penelitian ini terdapat 2 faktor. Faktor pertama yaitu perendaman air dengan suhu awal yang berbeda yang terdiri dari 3 taraf yaitu S1 (perendaman dengan suhu awal 40oC), S2 (perendaman dengan suhu awal 60oC), S3 (perendaman dengan suhu awal 80oC). Faktor kedua yaitu lama perendaman H2SO4 yang terdiri dari 3 taraf yaitu P1 (lama perendaman 10 menit), P2 (lama perendaman 30 menit), P3 (lama perendaman 50 menit ). Terdapat 7 parameter yang diamati yaitu waktu berkecambah (hari), potensi tumbuh maksimum (%), persentase daya berkecambah (%), kecepatan tumbuh (% per hari), persentase kecambah normal (%), persentase kecambah abnormal (%) dan persentase benih tidak tumbuh (%). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa perendaman air dengan suhu awal 60oC cenderung menunjukan hasil yang baik pada parameter potensi tumbuh maksimum (87,78%), persentase daya kecambah (76,67%), kecepatan tumbuh (1,11% per hari) dan persentase kecambah normal (66,67%). Lama perendaman H2SO4 selama 30 menit cenderung menunjukan hasil yang lebih baik pada parameter waktu berkecambah (9,00 hari), potensi tumbuh maksimum (86,67%), persentase daya kecambah (71,67%) dan persentase kecambah normal (61,67%). Tidak terdapat interaksi antara perlakuan perendaman air dengan suhu awal yang berbeda dan lama perendaman H2SO4 terhadap viabilitas benih saga pohon (Adenanthera pavonina L.) | |||||||||
