Abstract

ABSTRACK Faizal Fadhilah Dermawan. NIM. 6662170003. Thesis. Peaceful Journalism Practices in Framing Shia News at Republika.co.id (2020-2021 Period). Advisor I : Dr. Yoki Yusanto. S. Sos., M.Ikom, and Advisor II : Darwis Sagita, M.I.Kom. The presence of the media as the fourth pillar should help reduce conflict, not exacerbate conflict or even news generated by new conflicts. The important role of the media is to shape public opinion. What is displayed by the media, the public automatically constructs it, so that is where peace journalism comes in. Namely, the resolution of conflicts through the path of peace and the end of the conflict boils down to the public interest. Departing from the problems that have been explained by the researcher, the researcher is interested in analyzing how the practice of peace journalism and the practice of analyzing the framing model of Robert N. Entman, on Shia reporting in Republika Online. This study uses a constructivist paradigm with an approach approach, data collection is carried out by literature study and documentation, from several books of study and research on peace journalism and framing. The methodology used in this study uses a framing model analysis, Robert N. Entman is used to describe the selection process and highlight certain aspects of the reality of the media displayed. The theory used in this research is the theory of Peaceful Journalism which was initiated by Johan Galtung in the 1970s. The theory explains that Peace Journalism, as a form of major effort in reconstructing and redefining the goals of journalists in conflict reporting. The results of the analysis by researchers show that Republika Online in displaying Shia news. Republika Online tends to be biased in presenting the opinions of the Minister of Religion (Minister of Religion), Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, the lack of sources makes the news from Republika Online tends to be on the side of the Minister of Religion, however, in its reporting, Republika Online tries to immediately resolve conflicts from the Minister of Religion. Hadirnya media sebagai pilar keempat demokrasi sudah seharusnya berperan menjadi peredam konflik, bukan malah memperparah konflik atau bahkan berita yang dihasilkan membuahkan konflik baru. Peran penting media inilah yang membentuk opini publik. Apa yang ditampilkan media, secara otomatis khalayak mengkonstruksikannya, maka disitulah hadirnya jurnalisme damai (peace journalism). Yakni, upaya penyelesaian konflik-konflik melalui jalur perdamaian dan berakhirnya konflik bermuara pada kepetingan publik. Berangkat dari permasalahan yang telah dijelaskan oleh peneliti diatas, peneliti tertarik untuk menganalisis bagaimana praktik jurnalisme damai dan praktik analisis framing model Robert N. Entman, pada pemberitaan Syiah di Republika Online. Penelitian ini menggunakan paradigma konstruktivis dengan pendekatan kualitatif, pengumpulan data yang dilakukan dengan studi kepustakaan dan dokumentasi, diperkuat dari beberapa buku kajian dan penelitian jurnalisme damai serta framing. Metodologi yang digunakan oleh penelitian ini menggunakan analisis framing model, Robert N. Entman digunakan untuk menggambarkan proses seleksi dan menonjolkan aspek tertentu dari realitas media tampilkan. Teori yang digunakan oleh penelitian ini adalah teori Jurnalisme Damai yang digagas oleh Johan Galtung pada tahun 1970-an. Teori menjelaskan bahwa Jurnalisme Damai, sebagai bentuk usaha besar dalam merekontruksikan ulang dan mendefinisikan ulang tujuan dari jurnalis dalam peliputan konflik. Hasil analisis oleh peneliti menunjukan bahwa Republika Online dalam menampilkan pemberitaan Syiah. Republika Online cenderung berat sebelah terfokuskan dalam menampilkan frame pendapatpendapat dari Menag (Menteri Agama), Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, kurangnya narasumber membuat berita dari Republika Online cenderung berada disisi Menag, hanya saja, dalam pemberitaanya, Republika Online berusaha untuk segera menyelesaikan konflik dari Menag. Hal ini diperkuat, dari enam berita yang dianalisis oleh peneliti, dimana hampir sebagian berita menyangkut kelompok Syiah dan Menteri Agama
