Abstract

ABSTRACT The Influence of Mind Mapping Technique toward Students’ Ability in Writing Descriptive Text at the Eighth Grade of SMPN 18 Kota Serang By DitaYuliafnita 102149 The objectives of the research isto find out the influence of mind mapping technique toward students’ability in writing at the eighth grade of SMPN 18 Kota Serang. This research used quantitative approach through quasi experimental as research design. The population of this research were all of eighth grade students of SMPN 18 Kota Serangand the sample used in this research were the students of VIII C as the experimental group and VIII B as the control group. Each group consisted of 30 students. As the result, the researcher showed the average score of pretest in experimental group was 36.5 became 60.34 in the post test. Meanwhile, in control group the average score of pretest was 34.16 became 37.34 in the post test. In finding a significant difference between two variables, the researcher conducted t-test. The result showed t count was higher than t table (5.55 ≥1.672). Therefore, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. So, the researcher concluded that, there was a significant influence of students’ ability in writing by using mind mapping technique at the eighth grade of SMPN 18 Kota Serang. The researcher also concluded that mind mapping technique could be used as one alternative teaching technique to teach writing. Keyword:Mind Mapping Technique, Students’ writing skill
