Abstract

ABSTRAK Nafa Ayu Ramadhanty. NIM 6662160084. Skripsi. Komunikasi Interpersonal Mediasi Orang Tua Kepada Anak Dalam Pengawasan Menonton Youtube. Pembimbing I: Dr. Isti Nursih W. S.I.P, M.I.Kom dan Pembimbing II: Dr. Nina Yuliana S.Sos M.Si Youtube merupakan website yang menyediakan layanan menonton video secara online dan berdasarkan databoks, pada saat pandemi tahun 2020, orang Indonesia menghabiskan 25,9 jam sebulan untuk menonton youtube termasuk anak – anak dibawah umur 12 tahun yang masih perlu pengawasan orang tua. Konsep dasar yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Komunikasi Interpersonal yang diperkuat dengan Teori Mediasi Orang Tua Penelitian ini membahas tentang pengawasan menonton Youtube pada anak – anak di Komplek Perumahan Taman Pipitan Indah, Kecamatan Walantaka, Kota Serang – Banten. Permasalahan ini dipilih karena pandemi COVID – 19 yang mengharuskan anak – anak belajar di rumah dan penggunaan internet dan youtube meningkat hingga menyebabkan beberapa masalah seperti perubahan emosi, perilaku, hingga kecanduan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, paradigma konstruktivisme dan menggunakan teori mediasi orang tua (parental mediation of internet children use) oleh Sonia Livingstone Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa ketika anak – anak menonton Youtube terlalu menyebabkan dampak negatif seperti perubahan emosi anak yang mudah marah, egois, tantrum, menyebabkan sakit mata, gangguan tidur hingga menurunnya prestasi akademik di sekolah. Adapun jenis mediasi orang tua yang digunakan paling sedikit adalah jenis mediasi restriktif 1 orang, jenis mediasi co-viewing 2 orang dan jenis mediasi aktif 4 orang, serta sebagian besar ayah tidak terlalu berpartisipasi dalam mengawasi anak ketika menonton Youtube. The basic concept used in this study is Interpersonal Communication which is strengthened by Parental Mediation Theory. This problem was chosen because the COVID - 19 pandemic required children to study at home and the use of the internet and YouTube increased which caused several problems such as changes in emotions, behavior, and addiction. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, constructivism paradigm and uses the theory of parental mediation of internet children use by Sonia Livingstone. The results obtained from this study indicate that when children watch Youtube too much it causes negative impacts such as easy changes in children's emotions. angry, selfish, tantrums, causing eye pain, sleep disturbances to decreased academic achievement at school. The type of parental mediation that was used at least was 1 person restrictive mediation, 2 people co-viewing mediation and 4 active mediation types, and most fathers did not really participate in supervising their children while watching Youtube.
