Abstract

ABSTRACT This research used quantitative method with quasi experimental design by using pre-test post-test control group design. The researcher took X1 which consists of 35 students as experimental class and X2 that also consists of 35 students as control class. In experimental class, the researcher taught narrative text writing by using series of pictures but for control class, the researcher only taught by using conventional method or only taught the narrative text writing structurally and theoretically. After the researcher tested the value of validity and reliability of pre-test and post-test from both of classes, the researcher got the values that indicated how valid and reliable the instruments then the researcher computed normality and homogeneity. The data was concluded in normal situation and the subjects are homogeny. The final step was to compare mean of gain score of experimental and control class by using T-test formula. The result of t-test from scores both results of pre-test and post-test was higher than t-table, it means series of pictures has given significant influences in improving students’ narrative text writing at the tenth grade students of MAN Pulomerak Cilegon. Based on the research, the researcher concluded that series of pictures that was used in teaching narrative text writing for experimental class had given the higher score than control class that taught by using conventional method. It means series of pictures is effective to be used in teaching narrative text writing for tenth grade students of senor high school. Keywords: Series of Pictures, Narrative Text, Writing
