Abstract

Performance Analysis of Biolectrochemical System for Domestic Wastewater Treatment in Student Center Building, Campus E, University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa By Hatifah Bahrum NIM : 7780200011 Master’s Program in Chemical Engineering University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa Advisor I : Prof DR H. Fatah Sulaiman,S.T, M.T Co-Advisor II : Dr Rahmayetty, S.T, MT Reducing the use of groundwater and optimizing the use of water with existing resources, as well as increasing water conservation programs are deemed necessary to support and implement the smart and green campus concept at Untirta, Sindangsari. One way is to recycle water used for ablution which is domestic waste using bioelectrochemical technology or an electrosystem. The purpose of this research is to reduce the content of TSS, TDS, manganese metal and coliform in domestic wastewater at the Student Center Building, Campus E Untirta using a Bielectrochemical tool, find out the best current strength that produces recycled water according to quality standards, find out the optimal conditions for bioelectrochemical tools installed in the SCU Untirta building. The BES system is a technology that can be used to treat waste while simultaneously producing energy by combining electrolysis and biological (anaerobic) processes in treating waste. The operation of the tool uses a flow rate of 2 m3/hour in the Primary Clarifier and Tertiery Clarifier tanks with a constant voltage variation of 100 volts and the variable that changes is the electric current strength, namely 50, 65, 70, 76, 102 and 143 amperes. The sample in this study was raw water from ablution waste water, rainwater and river water in the SCU building, Campus E Untirta. Data analysis used Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP), MPN method and TDS meter. From this research, it was found that the optimum current strength of 143 Ampere was able to reduce TDS levels by up to 104 mg/l (60%), TSS levels by 8 mg/l (75%), Mn metal by 0.003 mg/l (97%). These results are in accordance with the clean water quality standards of the Minister of Health No. 32 of 2017. The optimal current strength to reduce coliform is 76 amperes with a coliform value of 5000 MPN/total, (68%) this value is in accordance with the quality standard of the RI Minister of Environment Regulation No. 5 of the year 2014. Salah satu cara dengan mendaur ulang air bekas wudhu yang merupakan limbah domestik menggunakan teknologi bioelektrokimia atau electrosystem. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengurangi kandungan bahan pencemar TSS, TDS, Logam mangan dan Coliform pada air limbah domestik di Gedung Student Center kampus E Untirta menggunakan alat Bielektrokimia, mengetahui kuat arus terbaik yang menghasilkan air daur ulang sesuai baku mutu, mengetahui kondisi optimal alat biolektrokimia yang terpasang di gedung SCU Untirta. Sistem BES merupakan teknologi yang dapat digunakan untuk mengolah limbah sekaligus menghasilkan energi dengan cara menggabungkan proses elektrolisis dan biologi (anaerob) dalam mengolah limbah. Pengoperasian alat menggunakan laju alir 2 m3/jam pada tangki Primary Clarifier dan Tertiery Clarifier dengan variasi tegangan alat tetap 100 volt dan yang menjadi variabel berubahnya adalah kuat arus listrik yaitu sebesar 50, 65, 70, 76, 102 dan 143 ampere. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah air baku yang berasal dari air buangan wudhu,air hujan dan air sungai yang ada di gedung SCU kampus E Untirta. Analisa data menggunakan Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP), metode MPN dan TDS meter. Dari penelitian ini didapatkan kuat arus optimum sebesar 143 Ampere mampu menurunkan kadar TDS hingga 104 mg/l (60 %), kadar TSS 8 mg/l (75%), logam Mn 0.003 mg/l (97%). Hasil tersebut telah sesuai dengan baku mutu air bersih permenkes no 32 tahun 2017. Kuat arus optimal untuk menurunkan coliform adalah 76 ampere dengan nilai coliform sebesar 5000 MPN/jml, (68%) nilai tersebut telah sesuai dengan baku mutu permen LH RI no 5 tahun 2014.
