Abstract

Most students are not confident in the learning process because students are less interested in speaking activities, when doing speaking exercises students look tense, this situation results in students not being used to speaking and the language used is still lacking, so the conversation is still stuttering the process of speaking skills applied by the teacher is still not attractive, thereby reducing the interest and enthusiasm of students. The purpose of this study was to determine the improvement of students' speaking skills in class V. The method used by this researcher was Research and Development (R&D) with procedures the research refers to the 4D model by Thiagarajan which consists of 4 stages, namely define, design, develop, and disseminate. The data collection is in the form of tests, observations, interviews, questionnaires, documentation, observation sheets, research instruments. The data analysis technique is validation questionnaire analysis and user response, pre-test, post-test, and indicators of success. The results of this study indicate that audio-visual media through the Cartoon Story Maker application is very feasible to improve the speaking skills of grade 5 students. This is evidenced by the validation results from two media experts with a percentage of 85.8% in the category "Very Eligible", two linguists with the percentage of 87.2% is in the category of "Very Eligible", two material experts with a percentage of 80.9% are in the category of "Very Eligible". The response of students' reading interest to audio-visual media through the Cartoon Story Maker application in a trial with 20 respondents was 82.9% in the "Very Good" category. Additional Information: Sebagian besar peserta didik belum percaya diri dalam proses pembelajaran di sebabkan peserta didik kurang berminat dalam kegiatan berbicara. Ketika melakukan latihan berbicara, peserta didik terlihat tegang. Keadaan ini mengakibatkan peserta didik tidak terbiasa dalam berbicara dan bahasa yang digunakan masih kurang sehingga keterampilan berbicara masih terbata-bata. Pembelajaran keterampilan berbicara yang diterapkan guru masih kurang menarik. Sehingga mengurangi minat dan antusias peserta didik. Penilaian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan keterampilan berbicara peserta didik di kelas V. Metode yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan prosedur penelitian mengacu pada model 4D oleh Thiagarajan yang terdiri atas 4 tahapan yaitu define, design, develop, dan disseminate. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan tes, observasi, wawancara, lembar angket, dokumentasi, lembar observasi. Teknik analisis datanya yaitu analisis angket validasi dan respons pengguna, pre-test, post test, dan indikator keberhasilan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa media audio visual melalui aplikasi Cartoon Stori Maker sangat layak untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara peserta didik kelas 5. Hal tersebut dibuktikan oleh hasil validasi dari dua ahli media dengan presentase 85,8% berkategori “Sangat Layak”, dan dua ahli bahasa dengan presentase 87,2% berkategori “Sangat Layak”, dua ahli materi dengan presentase 80,9% berkategori “Sangat Layak”. Respons minat baca peserta didik terhadap media audio visual melalui aplikasi Cartoon Stori Maker pada uji coba dengan 20 responden sebesar 82,9% dengan kategori “Sangat Baik”.
