Abstract
This research is motivated by the importance of the ability of understanding the concept of mathematical studens in the material sets that can be taught in junior high school to solve problems in daily life. It is knowing by doing test questions and interview against some junior high school students. This study aims to describe the : (1) the ability of understanding the concept of mathematical of junior high school students grade vii on the material sets (2) the factors that affect difficulties in learning for each ability of students for understanding of concept in the material sets of junior high school grade vii based on the school accreditation. This research method use is descriptive qualitative research. The results showed that of the 30 students there were 16 students who have the ability to very good understanding, two students who have the ability to good understanding, eight students who have the ability to rufficient understanding, and four students who have the ability of understanding which is very less. The influencing factor is internal factors and external factors.

| Additional Information: | Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa dalam materi himpunan yang dapat diajarkan di SMP untuk menyelesaikan soal kehidupan sehari-hari. Hal ini diketahui dengan melakukan tes soal dan wawancara terhadap beberapa siswa SMP. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan: (1) kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa SMP kelas VII pada materi himpunan (2) faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kesulitan belajar siswa untuk setiap kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa pada materi himpunan kelas VII SMP berdasarkan akreditasi sekolah. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa dari 30 siswa terdapat 16 siswa yang mempunyai kemampuan pemahamannya sangat baik, dua siswa yang mempunyai kemampuan pemahamannya baik, delapan siswa yang mempunyai kemampuan pemahamannya cukup dan terdapat empat siswa yang mempunyai kemampuan pemahamannya kurang sekali. Faktor yang mempengaruhinya ialah faktor internal dan faktor eksternal. | |||||||||
