Abstract

TRI DAMAYANTI. 2019. The Effectiveness of Durian Leaves (Durio zibethinus Murr.) Extract as Anesthetic In Carp (Cyprinus carpio) With Different Transportation Systems. Supervised by ARIS MUNANDAR and DINI SURILAYANI. One of the important factor that influence the achievement for the successful distribution of live fish is a transportation process from the place in cultivation to the market. Application of anesthetic during transportation is used to reduce the metabolic activity of fish during transportation. Therefore the use of durian leaves extract as anesthetics is used with different transportation system. The aims of this study to determine the optimum concentration of durian leaves (Durio zibethinus Murr.), as anesthetic and estimated the optimum time stunning and the effectiveness transportation system. The study was conducted from February – March 2019 at the Laboratory of Fisheries Product Processing Technology, Laboratory of Aquaculture, and Hatchery Department Fisheries, University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa and Analytical Chemistry Laboratory, Bogor Agricultural University. The result showed phytochemical durian leaves extract positive contains flavonoid, phenolics hydroquinones, tannins, and alkaloid. The optimum concentration for anaesthetic for the carp is 830 ppm with fainted time is 51 minutes and recovery time is 3rd where the survival rate reached 50% for 2 hours dry system and the survival rate 100% for 8 hours wet system transportation. The water quality of this study was not affect to physiological conditions of fish before and after transportation. Keywords : Anesthetic, durian leaves extract, live fish transportation
